Speaking of the Edgewater Hotel......
As I opened the curtains one morning expecting to see the Seattle skyline, imagine my surprise to see
this instead! Very big. Very close. Lots of people peering down. It's a good thing I was dressed at the time!

Views from the lanai of our hale on the lava flow at Kona Village, on the Kona Coast of the Big Island (Feb. 1994):
Many pleasant hours were spent here watching the humpback whales as they migrated past.
