Some hotel in Chifeng, China. Don't care to remember what the name was... hope to never return to that city.

View from Room 1215, Hilton Gaslamp Quarter, San Diego, CA

Looking northwest, with the Convention Center in foreground and Marriott and Hyatt hotels at center (Sept. 2009).

Mr.J took the top photo with an Olympus SP-500UZ set on “sunset” mode. I took the bottom one at the same time with a Canon S3 IS set on “auto” mode. Interesting differences in the results.

BTW, the large square of bright light reflecting off the Marriott is a bank of lights from Petco Park, situated about two blocks behind the Hilton. The Padres lost that night.

Both are great shots!
The tonal difference between the 2 pics might be due to different settings of WB (white balance). First one is much warmer.

The noon view of Kowloon from the 61st floor after checking in. The tail end of Typhoon Ketsana is upon us.

.....and the same view the next morning.

And it's a real shot as one can still barely see HMS Tamar - er, I mean People's Liberation Army HQ - in the lower left corner.

Absolutely stunning shot. Great composition--a real sense of just how high you are!

It is a very dramatic entrance to the hotel. Sadly when I was there the windows were so dirty that you could not take photos out of them....
