That Amsterdam one is delightfully crisp, ajax, I like it a lot!
For me, there's quite a few, as I do this a lot, so...
First, the view on opening the door, when it is soul-destroying and carbon-copy. This is the Courtyard in Carlsbad, CA:
Next, an impressive view of the gorgeous city of Lisbon, from the Meridien:
Rather more pattern than view here, from the Artemis hotel, in Slotermeer, just outside Amsterdam:
From the Chocolate Hills visitor centre hotel, on Bohol in the Philippines, a bizarre, almost alien landscape surrounds you:
Looking down from one of my new favourite hotels and cities: the Langham Place Mongkok:
And looking across from the same!
Massive demonstrations (which I, possibly foolishly, but instinctively) went and got involved in later, in Mexico City, from the Sheraton Centro Historico:
Ah, I love stations. Particularly bustling stations. And they don't come much more bustling than Shanghai, here seen from the Holiday Inn:
In Mumbai (I have only ever been as a 'backpacker') I have a favourite, fairly down-at-heel hotel I use, which has this view from the room (and the wonderful terrace on the roof), this is the reason I stay!
And finally, also in India (Varkala, down in Kerala this time), the accommodation may have been some rather basic huts, but the view was well worth it.

My shortest lived camera was a Sony Cybershot W7 which I bought in Sydney after dropping my Canon Elph/Izus due to an "ant related" incident. I didn't like the W7 because it "flashed inappropriately" and soon moved onto to Panasonic LX2.
Now, there is no denying that any reasonably new Sony camera will take a good picture if you simply set it to auto or one of the scene modes, so here is a shot taken in night scene mode:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/jason_hindle/538548368/
This is the night view from (I think - it's over a year) from room 203 at the Holiday Inn Potts Point in Sydney, looking across The Domain to the CBD. Out of the camera, it is reasonably well exposed if a little too dark and a little too soft so I've done a little post processing (colour adjustment, sharpness, clarification and a minor tone curve) in Paint Shop Pro.
Is this over cooked or "à point"?
Edited to show a smaller image here plus (in line with Flickr's rules), a link to the photo page for those who would like to look at a larger picture.

As I am putting photos onto my computer and getting them organized (groan), am finding more of these "views from hotel room" shots.
This one is a view of the Boston skyline at sunset from the Hilton at BOS (2006):

A couple of very old (pre-digital, Nov 1999) views from a "backpacker" type hotel in New Delhi (can't remember the name of the hotel)

New to FT, but couldn't resist posting this one which is really (un)attractive.

Note to self: Never let someone else choose the hotel, EVER again!

Hi mee,
May I extend my welcome to you also. Hope you enjoy it here - TE's a great place!
I agree with FourWheels and Internaut that your photo has definite potential. You could perhaps also try increasing the contrast and/or play around with light adjustment (for example, Shadows/Highlights tool in PhotoShop).
Looking forward to more photos from you.
