Thank you, Robs25.
Thanks for not revealing the solution gobluetwo, although I doubt that it will be found as Hanover isn't exactly a tourist magnet.

Travel Quiz Answer: the photo shows the gardens of Herrenhausen Palace, the summer residence of the Royal House of Hanover. It was destroyed during WWII and reopened in 2013.

Wow, I just loved that terrace picture of Bangkok. I wish I could be there. There are so many pictures you guys are sharing. I want to post mine as well. But they are not high definition images. What camera do you use to take such clear images?

World-famous artist Niki de Saint Phalle, honorary citizen of Hanover, created her last work of art in the garden of Herrenhausen Palace, transforming the 330 year old grotto into a place of mystery and magic.

When it comes to upscale restaurants in Hanover, your options are quite limited: the only Michelin-starred restaurant is 20km away from the city and to make it even more convenient, it only serves dinner. I therefore decided to settle for the next-best choice, Röhrbein, the only restaurant in town with a Michelin Bib Gourmand.
The Wiener Schnitzel was excellent
The dessert was very creative (asparagus sorbet with strawberries) and surprisingly tasty

Thanks for your continued enthusiasm, Madone59! There will be many new photos to come as I'll start my yearly trip to the West Coast in two weeks. Some of them will no doubt look very familiar to you as I'll also be in the San Diego area.

Hanover's Opera House
Beautiful old buildings
And a lovely spot to celebrate the German tradition of Kaffee und Kuchen (coffee and cake)
This concludes my short trip to Hanover. It's a city I probably wouldn't have visited on my own initiative (I was in the region for a dear friend's wedding), but I was pleasantly surprised and had a great time.

Back home...
And off for lunch at one of my favourite restaurants in town, l'Auberge d'Hermance with its lovely garden.
.
My starter: cold pea soup with grilled octopus (it's 38C/100F today, a cold soup is therefore more than welcome)
The main: venison with red cabbage
And a very refreshing dessert: Judas tree flower soup and prosecco with red fruits, meringue and sorbet
