its great for being pocketable, but i dont find it fun to use.
do not enjoy the telescoping zoom (would prefer fixed lens). do not enjoy the p&s style handling. do not enjoy using the front ring dial (novelty).

very competent however. really sharp jpegs. good for making videos

my rx100 (gen 1) is now for sale

Have any of you printed any large images (say 14x20 or larger) from the RX100?

I just picked one up this week (not sure about lugging my dslr with me to london) and I wondered if this would be an option.

I have an almost new RX100 M2 with the separate electronic viewfinder.

However, the M3 has the integrated viewfinder. I know the zoom is a little less but for the added convenience, I am interested in moving to the M3.

1. Adorama will buy my almost new M2 with the electronic viewfinder for $425. Would you sell it on Craigslist instead of getting ripped off by Adorama?

2. Do you see any downside of switching to a M3? Not carrying the viewfinder is valuable to me. I think I can live with the lesser zoom.

I have gone from the M1 to the M2 to the M3 and the M3 is without a doubt the best yet. I'm not a fan of the turn on or off by popping the viewfinder up, but other than that it is sheer perfection.

Thanks Scott. I'm going for it.

Adorama is a rip off on the trade in. I almost feel like keeping the M2 or giving it away just to spite them.

FWIW; I sold my M2 (no viewfinder though) for $540 on eBay. Your kit with viewfinder should go for at least $775.

Typically, resale prices at electronics stores are almost always a ripoff. But in this case, that seems very reasonable. Remember the hassle & the people you'll have to deal with if you do CL or Ebay.

I'd sell on CL. I agree that there's hassle, but for camera products, all my sales have gone super smoothly.

Amazon might be a good option for resale. I've had good success there. personally prefer it to ebay.

I'm yet to see the RX100 M3 in any shops in the UK yet, only a few select online retailers.

Anyone have any idea why this might be? It's been fully released for sometime as far as I'm aware. Just like to get a hands on first before buying it.

overtheretoomuch, so much for your knowledge.

I sold the camera and viewfinder for >$300 more than Adorama offered via Amazon seller.

NB: Amazon's shipping estimates are crap. They suggested $3 and $4. It cost me $19.10 and $19.25. Ultimately, I don't care because I ....ed Adorama by $300. However, for those of you selling cheaper items, note this.

So you sold a USED M2 for >$725, when a NEW one is selling for <$650, and there are dozens of listings less than $725? I guess there's a sucker born every minute.

The viewfinder is worth over $200.

No, I sold the camera AND the viewfinder for >$725 which is a fair deal for both parties.

If anyone is interested, buying the Sony RX100 III from Australia and then getting your 10% Tourist Tax Refund can be pretty lucrative!
