Arrow Can it be true? Pets IN CABIN on flights TO Hawaii?

I know all about the strict quarantine laws in Hawaii, so I'd given up on us ever being able to take our cat because we don't like the idea of the cargo hold. Googling today, I found this article ~

http://www.dogjaunt.com/2011/08/taki...aska-airlines/

August 15, 2011, Alaska Airlines “will accept cats and dogs only for travel to and from Hawaii”

This is exciting news if it's true ^ Of course my next trip is already booked on UA

Its true

Dogs are now allowed in the cabin on AK. I flew with Nick Nack, a 6.7kg Boston Terrier from Bellingham-HNL in Oct. 2011. No problems.
Its too bad Hawaiian Ag officials don't adopt the UK's new DEFRA standards for entering their rabies free island.

I'd even buy a seat if required, but somehow I don't think my labrador is going to be allowed in the cabin.

I have seen a german shepard on a plane, it was a service dog, 2 seat side of plane dog had own seat but slept in floor next to owner. 2 hour flight never heard dog once, actually forgot it was in the row in front of me

Some of hyou already seem to know, but some others may not know of recent changes, so: for the straight, er, poop, on Hawai'i's current animal quarantine laws, please see here.

There is a five day or less quarantine program (may even be released the same day, after inspection!)

There is a PDF checklist here for the conditions of meeting the new five day or less quarantine program. Otherwise, a dog or cat would be quarantined 120 days.

For pets arriving from exempt areas follow Checklist for Pets Arriving from British Isles, Australia, Guam and New Zealand, see the PDF checklist here.
