Post NJ.com: Cost of flying to plummet in coming weeks, experts say

Frequent flyers and those looking for cheap chance for relaxation may be pleasantly surprised by the cost of domestic flights soon.

Airfares are expected drop to four-year lows next month, according to a new forecast, as flight demand drops, fuel costs fall and federal authorities investigate U.S. airlines for possible price collusion, Fortune reports.

It would be most insightful to know who paid these experts for that 'opinion'.

Recently I noticed that the price for a longhaul DL ticket I purchased fell by about a hundred dollars: same flights/dates and same fare class.

The word plummet to me means that the prices would be at least half price. Saving a $100 isn't a plummet.

Fancy words and advertising I bet.

Was this predicted by that octopus that picks the world cup winners, punksatony phil, or the tooth fairy? Airlines are loving low oil prices, and have made the market so non competitive that they will find no need to lower prices.

I've been checking out SEA-PVG-SEA In November and have seen $598 nonstop AI. That's substantially lower than last year, same time.

I assume its targeted pricing to bulk up the SEA hub. But my real cost will be $280 round trip for C+. Last year that was free at booking. This year I either pay at booking or hope for E+ aisle 3 days out.

So...
