Airbus launched A330-800/900neo

No surprised at all!

Airbus just launched newest A330-800/900neo. Hopefully some airlines will orders it.

The A330neo will feature aerodynamic enhancements such as new A350 XWB inspired winglets, an increased wing span and new engine pylons. Pilots will benefit from latest generation cockpit systems, and the already very comfortable A330 cabin will be further optimised to offer up to ten additional 18 inch wide seats. Passengers are winners too, as they will be able to enjoy a 21st century on-board experience with for example, fourth generation In Flight Entertainment (3D films), mood-lighting and full connectivity.
If they can get 10 more seats (3%) and 14$ fuel savings, that's a good story for airlines that are looking to move away from the older A332.

Is A330-800/900neo has more capabilities? Can they fly more than 7,500nm or even 8,000nm?

Anyone seeing any decent comparisons between the A330neo and 787 yet? I've been doing some reading and looking at the initial pricing I've seen $275mm for A330-900 it seems like the story around significantly lower capital costs compared to the 787 doesn't add up.

I'm sure there isn't much out there since everything with the neo is still on paper but just trying to figure out why the plane makes sense if the selling price is basically the same as the 787 (of course they may and probably will discount the crap out of the list price).

From what I've read the -800 will have a range of 7450nm while the -900 will be at 6200nm. I believe that's about 400nm more than the current versions.

Right, I think there is enough more range who can fly more nonstop.

The A330-800neo routes is:

SLC-TLV 6995 miles
SEA-TLV 6782 miles
SLC-HKG 7188 miles
SLC-CAN 7148 miles
ATL-JED 7122 miles
DTW-KWI 6624 miles
SLC-ATH 6342 miles
SEA-GRU 6770 miles
SLC-TPE 6762 miles

A330-900neo routes is:

SLC-FCO 5765 miles
SLC-FRA 5217 miles
SLC-GRU 6097 miles
SLC-ICN 5904 miles
ATL-IST 5774 miles
MSP-ATH 5521 miles
SLC-SCL 5740 miles

I hope some routes will be so successful. A330-800/900neo has more capabilities and it has more range and more fuel-efficient.
