They got a Lebanese journalist as the suspect. It is to be seen what comes from a German trial of this Lebanese journalist who denies being involved in the hijacking of the plane and murder of the US Navy diver on board.

Always considered it a blessing that our flight was not the one high jacked; we were passengers on TWA 847 from Athens to Rome within the same week. Very perplexed that it took 3 decades, but relieved that this person was caught and will face consequences for this act of terror.

The person has been released:

A lesson in presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law open to the public?

Whew! That was mistaken. He never had any trouble from the law. They decide to let him go. He will enjoy a nice vacation.

What nice vacation? It sounds more like an innocent man was locked up in Greece for multiple days due to a German notice made available to all Schengen border authorities, all while people were cheerleading his arrest (and punishment) while his vacation plans were ruined. I wonder how many more of the many thousands of people with his name have also had or will have similar problems.

Earlier this year, for reasons that had nothing to do with names, I was flagged down by Schengen border authorities in the Netherlands as a wanted criminal from Latvia all that despite my having no more in common with the wanted Latvian criminal than I have with US President Trump. I quickly talked my way out of it at AMS, but Im curious to see how many more times I will have to do so. Its really less of a vacation when a traveler is unfairly treated as a wanted criminal, and the longer and more frequently a person is unfairly treated as a criminal, the less of a vacation that trip and future trips may be. Assuming that this now-freed Lebanese journalist is innocent of the crimes he was alleged to have committed more than three decades ago, he probably should wonder if his problems while traveling are far from over and he ends up being unfairly treated as a wanted criminal.
