My college-age daughter travels frequently on international routes, at times solo. She is multi-lingual, dresses extremely well, has expensive accessories, and carries herself well. She has never been upgraded. However, two other things occur repeatedly: among a group of random people, she is offered assistance first. [This can be a very good thing!]. The negative side of the attention is that she is frequently detained longer than the usual passengers because the customs officials/airport soldiers/young government bureaucrats are always trying to chat her up or impress her with their authority. She was delayed in the CUN airport last winter because the customs officials believed she was Shakira and going under an alias. Likewise, this past summer she was accosted in MEX by airport police because they believed she was a certain celebrity arriving for a dance festival and they refused to take no for an answer; she had to wait until supervisors were called in to clear her.
I have a voice for radio, with face to match. Couple that with being a SCOW (Slow Chubby Old Whiteguy), and I would be up the creek without a paddle...except I am EXP on AA. Thus I get to watch the gorgeous people get on and walk back to coach.

Indeed. I've sat next to far more gorgeous people in the back row of American Eagle flights than in F/J. Thinning hair, spare tire, corporate-logo polo shirt, and cell phone holster seem to be the norm up front
I married a model. While this has never translated into an upgrade, she does get additional screening by the TSA about 10x more often than would be expected by chance.

Haha so true! As I am usually the lone female up front, and the smallest and thinnest, I always feel so out of place LOL.
BTW, I don't consider myself gorgeous, but I do tend to get selected for the scanner more often than not, which is really annoying since I always take the pat-down anyway, so my chance to get through the MD unscathed almost never comes.
Programs: CO Plat and too many hotel and rental car programs to bother listing...

You forgot the unshaven tattooed guy in shorts and flipflops. Oh wait, that's me, and I am surrounded by what you described.
I'm not sure if it's my looks, charm, or my status/full fare ticket that gets me up front, but I think it may be my charm.
