"One of the things [Michael Pollara] would do was he would use a reward card," Rossman said. "Obviously, for his small-ticket item, he still wanted to get his reward points and that was his downfall."
Fairley tracked the reward card's usage and discovered that since May 9, Pollara had visited 139 Toys R Us stores in 27 states, spending a total of $6,737.94 on 175 purchases.
27 states in 3 months probably means he was doing a lot of MR's too
His goal was to steal from stores in all 50 states in a year. He was already at $2 million worth. Must have been working for him.
Too bad he didn't think about using different cards.
The little weekly newspaper has a police blotter, and three out of four weeks, every month, for years, there are multiple arrests at a local home depot for this. They buy a cheap kitchen sink, take out the sink, and stuff the box with power tools, etc.
It's amazing they were able to get away with it for two million dollars worth without getting caught.
27 states in 3 months probably means he was doing a lot of MR's too
For the trip to Australia, was the alleged crook using miles/points or using just the proceeds from selling stolen goods? Oh wait, there may be no difference there.
