I've never sat on an airplane next to an adult who screamed and squealed and screeched and shrieked and hollered.

I've never sat on an airplane in front of an adult who kicked my seat and kicked it and kicked it and kicked it and when asked to stop stopped for ninety seconds and then started kicking it and kicking it and kicking it and kicking it again.

Its been close to 22 years of my life, and close to 23 in terms of flying years..

I've flown since I was just an embryo inside my mother's wombs. I think throughout my life I've always behaved myself in-flight and always tries to be polite and well mannered. In fact, I've never had an encounter with a rueful child (for lack of a better word).

These past couple of years, flying in premium cabins even with other younger passengers (primarily 3 and up) are a breeze. Most of the times, even true in coach. I don't see why children should be banned from flights period. They carry the same rights as we are. Although we may be annoyed by their behavior, they are children.

Most of them are not as developed as us yet, they only know their own little worlds. But come due time they will. In the meantime, we are intellectually superior so why can't we accept these children for a few hours or 24 hours in flight? Are we so intellectually superior that we become childish ourselves? We push for equal human rights to humans of every ethnicity, yet we quarrel over this.. Its unimaginable really..

Besides like most FTers voiced here, we were once little flyers like they are. So what if you have a bad day and all those? keep a smile on your face, and just try to be nice. It won't hurt anyone + its good karma!

Anyway, that's just my $0.02.

Cheers!

No, just make obese people buy 2 tickets/seats!

My apologies, you didn't say emergency. However, you have said, several times, that parents should have a "compelling reason", as defined by you, for bringing a child on board. For example:

"With that said, if the presence of your child is going to create an imposition on other passengers, I trust you have a compelling reason for requiring that they accept the imposition, i.e. other passengers would agree with you that it is important you take a long-haul trans-Atlantic flight with your baby. Communicating that reason to other passengers will go a long, long way towards minimizing the angry glares. I know that I'm much more receptive to a family that is relocating, or seeking medical assistance for the child, than I am to the family that says, "Hey, we deserve a vacation, too, so deal with it.""

Is there a approved form 27b/6 or signage guidelines for this?

It's too bad you didn't read the whole thread. In summary:

If you're going to impose on strangers, you'd better have a reason for doing so that the strangers find compelling. If not, you're simply rude.

That applies, not only to parents with children, but to ANY passenger that imposes on others.

You know how about trying it by using the middle section of the aircraft. I am sure it could be sound proofed enough and see if it can even be sold for a premium rate. Then again I have to say some fellow FF I have had the misfortune to fly with over the years are even more of a pest and any child could ever be.

I agree. I have horror stories. I would pay for it.

I just got off the phone with someone who works in parole and corrections. We were kicking back and forth this article and he said that some of his child sex offenders fly lots. He said that it isn't hard for an offender to get some kid to sit on their lap when they are running back and forth down the isles. Seriously, unsupervised kids are a free treat for those kinds of people. I would think that unruly children would draw more attention to themselves and the offenders would enjoy watching them. Then again, I'm not in that field, nor do I know about that kind of stuff except for what I've seen on Oprah. I flew alone when I was 15. I didn't have any problems, but you know, the times they are different.

Also, what about r rated movies?
