I heard what happened the news and DL connection makes emergency landing due to landing gear does not work properly. THe flight is on their way from ATL-HPN. The passengers is taking on another flight to HPN to put on another aircraft and none of the passengers who doesn't have any injured.
A Delta MD-80 commercial flight made an emergency landing at Cape Girardeau Regional Airport Sunday afternoon due to smoke in the aircraft's cockpit and cabin.
A total of 132 passengers were evacuated from the airplane, which was flying from Atlanta to St. Louis. No one was injured or requested medical attention. Buses were brought in to transport passengers to the St. Louis area.

I see that the 2nd post of this thread is an MD-80 on Cape Girardeau. Anybody know what plane was the one that landed in JFK?

Wow! What a job for captain & FO is makes emergency landing into JFK. So unbelievable for the flight is landed safety and no one hurt during emergency landing. I'm glad came out doing very well.
I heard the FA is keep repeating with the passengers says "HEAD DOWN! KEEP DOWN!!" What a job well done by last night. What about the entire CRJ900 will take out of service for the days. They will have to do fixed the entire aircraft in JFK hangar until the entire aircraft will revenue back in the service again.
The news this morning had some video of the pax after evacuating. One asked if they were going to get their miles for the trip...I think there was at least one FTer on the flight
THIS IDIOT should be fined by the FAA. The Captain's instructions and the F/A's were, Brace for IMPACT. Heads DOWN, STAY DOWN.
Certainly not! They won't let pay fined by the FAA. I don't see any problems the entire flight. You don't have to worried about the passengers is doing and just stay out of the way.

of course not. I interact well with DEAF passengers inflight. I've learned how to communicate with them regarding connections. (lock your thumb and index fingers in rings and ask, Do you have a connection?) Most are certainly unaware when a delay happens, they can NOT hear a PA announcement, simply write them a note explaining what is happening.....=)
Hand palms to face means thank you. Waving hands, applause.
I mistook his language and grammar.
