All my clothes get packed in separate giant zip locks. Especially my vibram five fingers which stink up everything. The plastic bags mean I don't worry if something leaks or my luggage sits in the rain.
A quick rinse in soapy water, roll them up in a towel and stomp all over them to get as much of the moisture out as possible, pack them in a plastic ziploc type bag after squeezing as much air out as possible. As for the shoes, well the best stuff I have ever found is Gran's foot powder.

Washing clothes is nice, but not always possible depending on the travel schedule. Ziploc solution sounds interesting, and is definitely cheap to try out. How well does it contain the odors though? I don't normally put stinky stuff in them

Very well, although I don't put massively stinky stuff in them either.

I haven't seen anyone post this yet... Space bags are great for compressing gym clothes and prevent any funky smells from reaching your other clothes. They are sort of like gigantic ziplocks only better.

These are what I use for all my dirty clothes. I have a few, one of them being the Eagle Creek here.
Basically, I pack all my gym clothes, undershirts, underwear, socks, and anything else I don't mind getting wrinkly in these compression bags. On the trip home, I use one or two of them for all my dirty laundry, and it keeps everything else in the suitcase dry and smell-free.

When I went away in February and April, I overpacked and ended up mailing home my dirty laundry (as well as a poster, books and a puzzle). I don't recommend that.

I've used giant garbage bags. Yeah, the inside smells funky when I get home and dump out the dirty clothes. I've also used a piece of baggage dedicated to dirty clothing.
One of the great things about today's tech exercise clothing is that it dries quickly, so a quick hand wash in shampoo gets most of the funk out of clothes, and they dry fast enough that you won't travel with wet clothes.
I also use the instant coffee packs left in the room to de-funk my shoes. I put one pack in each shoe, sometimes even in my dirty clothes bag, and this seems to dramatically reduce the funky smell.
Miracle fabrics ! I wear a lot of polyester on the road. Just take a shower with them on, hang them up, and in a couple hours they're good as new. For the shoes - baby powder or dryer sheets.
