2012 Race Thread

Hey all - I figured I'd start a race thread (I didn't see one) so we could see what events fellow FTers are doing.

Indianapolis Mini-Marathon (13.1)
Country Music 1/2
Memphis in May Triathlon (Olympic distance)
Denver 1/2

That's it so far. I might throw in some small races/sprint tris if I can fit it in.

I've done both the denver 1/2 (LONG time ago) and the country music half. The country music was a GREAT race.

Maybe make this just an event thread?

6/15-6/18 Anaconda, MT (mountain bike day 1, road bike day 2)
http://www.anacondabikefest.org/bikefest/fest.php5

7/25-7/28 Katy Trail Ride (not a formal event just a dozen or so friends going up to ride)
http://www.bikekatytrail.com

8/30-9/3 Disneyland half marathon
http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/events...-half-marathon

9/13-9/16 CO wine fest (25 mile bike ride)
http://coloradowinefest.com/index.html

That is all we have planned for fitness travel this year so far.

I am doing the IMG Miami at the end of the month. I want to do the LA marathon in late March but the air fares are very high. This may be something we can discuss on this thread as I have been all over the country including hawaii and always try and get good air fares. I have run marathons in these cities I will use airport codes. CVG, CHM, DAY, CLE, NYC, ATL, BWI,
Vermont City, SFO, LAX, SAN, HNL, MIA, FLL.

The Country Music race has been my favorite of them all - I love the route (and it helps that I did undergrad in Nashville and still work there some) and the participation of the residents. I have never had as much local interaction during a race, from people handing out beer and pretzels to bands playing all along the route. It's the only RNR series race that I have really enjoyed.

Kool-aid classic
August 11, 2012
http://incolor.inetnebr.com/drewarc/kaclassic/

Cheyenne ride for sight
August 12, 2012 (not sure if they have released this date yet)

Would be back to back rides with a lot of car travel in between. We'll see if that happens or not....probably 50/50
