Just to add to what has been said already, most 11 month old infants do not walk yet and if they do, it's only for a very short distance. At this stage it's either stroller, carrier pack or baby on hip.

This is my number one piece of advice. Anything a child does is tolerable if the parent(s) seem to be trying. The *only* thing that makes a flight unpleasant is the sort of parent who thinks that they deserve to have a nice chilled time on a plane and that other people should just deal with their child's behaviour.

Personally, I've always found aeroplane noise loud enough to drown out most noise children make, especially the noise that toys make, but I do have ears that pop and unpop going up and down hills, so that might just be me.
