San Diego and Laguna Beach with an 8-yr. old - suggestions?
Hi everyone.
We'd be most grateful for any suggestions you may have for a vacation for a family which includes an 8-yr old. She is well traveled and is as comfortable in adult environments (e.g., museums and restaurants) as she is in kid-focused ones. We're going to San Diego for 5 days at the end of December, followed by Laguna Beach (staying in Laguna Niguel, actually) for 2-3 days.
Thank you!

BCH- In San Diego there are a lot of tourist attractions that will be of interest (e.g. Sea World). Near Laguna Beach, an 8-year old my find interest at the Marine Sea Life Center (and Masted Sailing ship) in Dana Point. Also, the local ferry to Catalina Island may make for a memorable trip

There are a couple of cards you can purchase to give you admission to several different sites and activities in the area...

Both can be great values. There is so much to do in that area: Theme parks (Disneyland, Legoland, Knott's Berry Farm, etc), beaches, boat tours (whale watching, sail boats, jet boats, etc), the SD Zoo, Children's Museums, Pirate Tours, The USS Midway aircraft carrier, etc.
Be sure to catch the sunset on the beach. In San Diego there are lots of different vehicles you can rent to get around to different sight-seeing places, from bicycles to electric cars to tiny boats to segways. Laguna Beach is famous for fish tacos. There's a lot of art galleries there that might be fun to step into and look around.
That's a lovely area to visit. Have a great time!
