Is drop fee incl on quote
Recently I rented a vehicle from ORD to MKE.
I decided to do this since Thrifty was cheaper than others based on their e-mail quote.
Upon return I noticed that they had added a $40 drop fee.
No where on their e-mail quote was this mentioned...and the pickup and drop off on the quote were ORD and MKE.
Shouldn't the drop fee have been included?

I just did a price quote for a random date for ORD-MKE in July on Thrifty.com and saw this line item in the quote:
Drop off fee: 41.36
So it appears it's not an unfair charge--at most just an unexpected one by you.
If your original reservation did not specifically include this, and if your rental was more than the estimated total, I think it would be worth a call to Customer Care (877-283-0898, option 4) to see if you can get it refunded.

Does Thrifty not include this on the e-mail confirmations?

IIRC, the initial email that is sent when you first book it has a detailed breakdown of all of the charges.
The second one they send you (the day before your reservation, reminding you to pick up) just has the base rate and no breakdown or estimated total.
The first one still may not actually have all of the charges--I actually usually print off and save as a PDF the screen I get when I first book it and that's the one I reference, since it has everything. I've never booked a one-way with Thrifty before, though, so I don't know if that is included in the email. I'd imagine that it should be IF indeed the email does show all of the charges. I suppose I could run a test booking and see...
You can try inputting your reservation number at thrifty.com and seeing if they still have it on file--you might be able to see the breakdown and estimated total that way and that should show the same thing you should have seen when you first booked it.

I made the reservation the day before the rental so I only got one e-mail.
Nevertheless that is the e-mail I used to compare rates with other companies.
I feel that I was tricked...i.e. a drop fee is 'material' and varies much from company to company.

I just did a test booking and also reviewed my email inbox for previous Thrifty confirmations. I was mistaken--actually none of the emails list anything other than the base rate.
You should have seen the drop fee when you initially made the reservation, however. Did you try what I suggested and put the confirmation number at Thrifty.com to see if it was listed there?
Go here and try that: https://www.thrifty.com/Reservations...ntication.aspx
Just as a side note, from what I've discovered, different companies take different tactics when it comes to one-ways. Dollar and Thrifty charge a regular rate (same as what that car would normally go for) and then add a drop fee. Others, like Avis and Hertz, do not charge a drop fee but instead jack the rate up. Dollar and Thrifty are better deals when the rental is long (since the rate is more like, say, $30/day plus a drop fee--from what I've seen, figure on about $50 per 200 miles) while Hertz and Avis are better deals for short rentals (since the rate is more like $50-$60/day or even higher).
