Another agreed. In 10+ years I've never had a problem with a BKK airport taxi, and the one time I had a problem with a taxi for travel within the city was when I took one that was waiting outside the hotel, a big no-no. The only issue I've ever had with airport taxis is that they keep moving the damn location of the taxi stand.

I have done this over a dozen times; guess it must be the way I look. Once I give correct the money for each toll they generally realise ...

In all my taxi trip on the highway there's only been one problem with toll money. Gave the guy 100 Baht note on the first toll and he placed the remainder of the money on the dashboard... then got annoyed when I indicated it should come to me. The reality is it could have been used to lower the meter upon arrival, however I'd rather feed him the money as needed.

Every other toll has resulted in getting back the proper change immediately upon leaving the toll area.

Now, shenanigans with the meter is a completely different story.

I have made the same short journey hundreds of times so the variation in the meter is a source of amusement for me. This trip is out of centre and there is only one large junction so journey times vary 3-5 minutes depending on the lights. The meter has ranged from 61-85 baht with the typical fare being about 73 baht.

OK - now for the return trip to the airport. Loins again girded for battle, but completely disarmed by the old boy who smiled like an indulgent uncle when I insisted on the meter. He lost me completely, but we eventually found ourselves on a broad highway signposted "airport". The canny devil didn't pass through a single toll booth, and the meter read THB240 when he got to the airport. I gave THB280, and he insisted on unloading my bags and getting a trolley.

Looking forward to my next trip ...

now that the taxis are downstairs, you need to get there on a rolling road, well really a roller coaster !

It makes it more fun when you have 3 suitcase , 70 pounds each plus some other stuff !
The brakes are not really made for 250 pounds of stuff and if I did not hold it back myself it would have crushed the nice girl at the bottom,

So watch out, maybe take the elevator

there were 3 lines, well Thai lines, so it went pretty fast at Midnight Tuesday , I told the driver I would give him 400 baht to sukumvit and he was happy,
no tolls as we took the city route but no traffic so it was just as quick,
I like the taxi drivers (mostly) , they work hard , long hours for little pay, so the extra 50-100 baht I would have given to him anyway

And I got to see a few new areas of town I will never see again .
