So long, Sukhumvit 38, and thanks for all the street food
By Coconuts Bangkok May 25, 2015 / 11:47 ICT
Bangkok's tourists and drunks will need a new source of khao ka moo after one of Sukhumvit Road's most famous street food hangouts closes next year.
A guidebook highlight and neighborhood staple, the food stalls of Soi Sukhumvit 38 say they've been given nine months to clear out to make way for another unremarkable wonderful condominium project.
One food vendor told Bangkok Post the landowner died late last year and now his family is selling it to a developer. City Hall told them to move, but they were given a stay of execution until February.

October, 2015? Seems like you should be OK. This article mentions they've been given nine (9) months to clear out, which in Thai terms means several years. So many better places, but this is popular with tourists based on the location.

I've heard of a large wholesale type market, Talad Thai, in the north of Bangkok, maybe Pathum Thani?
I would just Google Bangkok Insects Markets.

She also loves the larvae, which she says taste similar to peanuts. She has eaten them all including a scorpoin (which she did not like at all), but wife and Thai gf did share and eat the whole thing since it was 100 THB. She is usually the only white girl sitting around the bars with a couple bags of bugs to snack on, but she gets some mad respect from the Thai bg's for it

A lot of bug-carts are mobile/motorbike-based, so they drive around. But most markets should have at least one seller. And most night markets, night food stall areas and entertainment areas will have a bug-cart.

But the location is not mentioned there...
Any not-so-moving-place would be very welcome, since my bkk stopover is only 7 hours long;-)

The NPR article seems to cover a more sanitized version, and it's not obvious either where he might locate his mobile cart(s), or which retail outlets might be carrying his products?
Markets (fresh), night markets, areas with food carts and stalls, entertainment areas (Nana, Cowboy) should all have a bug cart.

What times of the day? Where were you planning on visiting in Bangkok?

I am pretty lucky in that regard...the gf likes the wife more than me anyway, but we all have lots of fun together and have for ~2.5 years now. Been married for ~15 and we have had many 1 night stands with ladies, but this is the first one we have developed feelings for. Thai girls have that affect on many people I think

Doesn't sound well, considering that I met a girl (while eating worms&bugs mix)...she was with her friend eating some fruits close there on the street, smiling, and the only thing we were able to do together was going to catch the airport train because my flight was in an hour. Do you think her interest could be only in those extracircular things or money? She seemed to be very serious and sad that I'm leaving, even asking if I had a wife, children, etc...
Back to the topic: finally I found intuitively what I was searching...in Pratunam, directly in front of the Berkeley hotel, where the hotel entrance for buses and a small temple is. Premixed bags of bugs and worms for thb 20, even "only the worms" option possible directly from the pan. The bag seems to be small but wasn't easy to eat it all, seemed to be heavy and fatty into the stomach and I had to wash it down with a litre of whisky/juice 1:1 mix to swallow all the separated legs stucked in mouth and further down ;-)

Sorry, not gender seperated...I was just saying they are always there for the girls that are working in Nana bars (ie. ladies that you can pay to accompany you in your room for some extracurricular activities). Many of them snack on the bugs like Americans snack on chips.

Be prepared ... it's a battle of wits for your wallet and don't let that beautiful charming smile fool you either as they see you as a walking AMT (nothing personal against you here of course)!
See the 10-points advice here from the Thai magazine, Tanakarn Dern, which translates as walking bank, to the working girls of Nana and elsewhere: http://www.stickmanweekly.com/Weekly/weekly26.html
A bit dated article, but I presume that nothing has changed since!
Sorry for deviating from the topic at hand, food in Bangkok, but I thought I must chime in on this
