We are arriving in BKK via CX J class tickets in late April at 11:40am. I assume we will get fast passes from CX, can anyone confirm?. How bad can the fast lane for immigration be around noon? More than 10-15 minutes or so?

Is there any benefit from purchasing escorted services from BFS? Do they do anything faster than getting you to the fast lane, such as priority WITHIN the fast lane? I have heard that CX parks very far from immigration, at least 5-10 min walk, but we are fast walkers and we will overtake all other walking J passengers from our flight, lol, so I don't see any huge advantage from purchasing BFS with an electric cart, what do you think?

Also, I assume uberx/uberblack is safe in BKK? How big is the difference in car quality between the two, is there a risk you get a bad/smelly vehicle on uberx?

This thread may help:

Being a fast walker won't help if a 600 seater A380 landed 10 minutes ahead of you. I personally haven't encountered anything more than 10 minutes or so at Fast Track Immigration, but at BKK nothing would surprise me.

CX will give you Premium Lane pass. You need make sure you go past the main immigration (will be on your left as CX use F & G gates), push past all the big Chinese tour groups hanging around outside the Visa on Arrival section then the Premium Lane is on your left. You will wait no more than 5 minutes if you are unlucky.

Absolutely no need whatsoever to purchase BFS, waste of money for you.

Ok, thanks to you both, that's what I thought.

I used UberX during my last stay in Bangkok (it was also my first stay), and the cars were all quite new, super clean, had very friendly drivers etc.
The only issue with UberX was that the cars were usually very small.
So they had to take one suitcase in the front passenger seat because they couldn't fit two in the trunk etc.

No experience with UberBlack as far as I can remember, though we were picked up by a very nice and new Mercedes C class once. I don't remember if I explicitly ordered an UberBlack though, could have just been that I ordered UberX and he picked us up because no other orders were available.

I could use a bit of help for those seasoned to clearing immigration in BKK. We will be flying into BKK this December (so peak season) via CX business class. I understand from reading this thread that we will get Fast Pass Lane access. I'm trying to book our onward flight BKK-REP. Does anyone know how long it takes to get luggage in BKK? We are scheduled to land at 11:20am (no clue if CX is usually on time or not). Can I safely book a PG flight that leaves BKK at 1:35pm? Or is that not enough time to clear immigration and collect luggage? Thanks in advance!

Thanks, good point, I did two random checks on the app and the prices seems to be fixed for my destination at 375 THB ($11) vs 1075 THB ($31), but it may be worth it for the two suitcases and added comfort.

Yes, there should be plenty of time to make that connection, even if CX is delayed. I would not hesitate to book this on separate tickets.

For OP totally agreed.

I've never experienced an UberX that couldn't handle 2 bags minimum. Luck (or otherwise) of the draw? How many rides did you take?

We only used UberX (ok, we took a tuktuk once and got ripped off; never used the metro), so I'd say we had quite a few rides.

We had two suitcases as well as some hand luggage (I think a small cabin trolley, a laptop bag and my gf's handbag). Not an extreme amount of luggage for two weeks in Asia.

As long as we didn't have the suitcases with us, we were fine though.

Thank you SK AAR! This is what I needed to hear. It also show some that the PG flight is usually about 30mins delayed. Hopefully it is and that also works in our favor. 😊

NEW SHUTTLE ROUTES TO DON MUEANG AIRPORT TO OPEN MONDAY

BANGKOK — Getting between downtown to Don Mueang International Airport will become easier when two new airport shuttle routes launch Monday.

For 30 baht (maybe 50 baht?), travel between the airport and two new destinations: Lumphini Park downtown and Sanam Luang in the old quarter.

The A3 service will stop at Lumphini Park, Ratchaprasong, Pratunam and Din Daeng before heading to the airport by tollway.

The A4 line runs between the airport and Sanam Luang (Royal Grounds), stopping at Khaosan Road, the Democracy Monument, the Phanfa Bridge, Lan Luang, Yommarat, Tha Prachan and Tha Chang along the way.

The routes launch May 1 and will operate 7am to 11pm daily.

According to some reports I've seen...

Update: Bangkok Mass Transit Authority announced Saturday morning to increase the fare for A3 and A4 lines from 30 baht to 50 baht. No clue on the frequency right now.

Sort of assume the A1 and A2 remain at 30 baht (for now)?

They both take the tollway too! I guess we'll see what the frequency is. Great news.

More options out of DMK are good but the bolded above [mine] are oddly out of place in the sequence.
