Flying CNX-BKK-HKG- clear C&I in CNX or BKK?
Stopping in at the TG F lounge and spa, just because I figure I might as well burn the pile of UA miles... so do I check in and fly at the CNX international terminal, or go domestic?

But BKK-HKG is not. I had heard that you can possibly clear C&I in CNX and stay airside at BKK with a sticker on you (?) or something.
But it wouldn't shock me if I was totally confused and wrong about that. Thus the question.
I guess I'm asking this: will I get CIQ status?

This refers to international passengers in transit (CIQ covers customs, immigration and quarantine procedures). Depending on your flight arrangements and airline, you may be able to transit via Bangkok airport without having to line up in the immigration queues at Suvarnabhumi. For instance, if you are flying from Ko Samui with Bangkok Airways with a connecting international flight out of Bangkok, you can usually clear Thai immigration at Samui airport. Similar CIQ arrangements can also be found at other international airports in Thailand including Phuket, Chiang Mai and Hat Yai. Check in advance with your airline whether this will apply to your individual circumstances.

You can clear customs and immigration in Chiang Mai where you will be given a CIQ sticker to wear in BKK. Thai Airways will tag your bag through to your final destination. Check in on the International (left) side of CNX, escalator upstairs to immigration, then on to the Royal Orchid Lounge to await your departure.

Well, it is possible to connect from an internal Thailand flight at BKK/DMK without flying on TG...
Thanks! I thought it might be that way. I'll be sure to be dropped off at the international terminal, and to keep my sticker on.

Immi in CNX typically consists of 2 agents and about 2 pax.
At checkin you'll get your dom AND int boarding passes with the CNX-BKK leg stamped international. At immigration your departure slip will be stapled to the BP and will be collected by the GA upon boarding. Once boarding begins you'll rejoin the masses and will need your CIQ sticker to head into the international pax territory.
Basically there are 3 possible paths of arrivals into BKK:
1) You'll get a bus gate on the apron and at the top of the escalator (near gate D3) you'll be pointed away from the dom carousel and into the floor 2 no-man's land (AKA int arrivals) and then you can head to the transfer security station to the east (the A/B/C/D confluence).
2) You'll get an international gate and be allowed upon departure into the floor 2 int arrivals area where you'll follow the above info.
3) You'll arrive at a domestic gate and will go through CIQ/transit security near B1 to access international departures.
Having said all this if you're connecting to TG F you should be met and escorted the whole way once you enter the terminal.
I have dozens of examples to demonstrate this.
Wondering why you think otherwise....

It may have been irrops and wanting to get back out from departures to a TG provided hotel, but it turned into a comedy of errors which did not sound amusing from the poster's side.

I'm a little unclear on how CIQ works.
I'm ticketed KBV-BKK-HKG on TG KBV-BKK and ET BKK-HKG.
1) Will I clear immigration, customs or both in KBV?
2) If so, will I be restricted to a holding pen in BKK or will I have access to the full departures area?
3) Are all airlines eligible or is it just a few? If it's only certain airlines I assume ET isn't participating.
The photo on the BKK website makes it look like some sort of restricted area: http://www.suvarnabhumiairport.com/e...ernational-ciq

1) If you get a regular domestic gate: Go to the transit security area in concourse B, just shy of the A confluence, and thereafter you'll gain access to the 3rd (int departure floor).
2) If you get an apron bus gate: Upon departing the bus and atop the escalator there will be a means to exit from the domestic area into the 2nd floor (int arrivals) level where you can then proceed to transit security at either the confluence of A/B/C/D or D/E/F/G. Which security you go through depends upon where your continuing airline's transit desk is.
Hmmm, a Texan in Boulder CO? Spoken as a CU alum.

Some things never change.
One more possibility of gate arrival.
3) If you happen to park at an international gate, and you'll know this because after the jetbridge you'll be shunted down stairs to a bus rather then being allowed to enter the terminal, you can ask to access the international arrivals level instead of heading to the bus. If allowed you can then immediately seek out the transit security checkpoints (as described above).
I've only done this once so it's impossible to say with any confidence it's the norm. Certainly something to keep in mind though.
