Christmas Day in Bangkok

Any suggestions for Christmas Day to make it a bit special in Bangkok? We'll be arriving the evening before and leaving the day after. Will sites, shops and restaurants be operating? I don't see it listed as an official holiday.

its a Buddhist country with less than 10% Christian ,

But they love Christmas for the gifts like everyone else

Terminal 21 had a nice display out in front of it last year ,

Everything will be open , so bring your Santa Hat and a big smile , it was good fun !

Yes, everything's open. Personally, I thought it was a bit weird with places blasting Christmas music while I was in a t-shirt and sweating (during the day).

thanks - good to know - I think we'll do some nice sightseeing that day, and definitely some massages!

It's a consumer society here and malls and stores want to cash in but I'm so over the xmas music everywhere. The last few years it seems to get more and more encompassing.
