Hard to top the JWMarriott Phuket from what I hear and read. We have five nights reserved next June. See the reviews in TripAdvisor.com. You should get a fair sense of what the resort has to offer. Please report back wherever you stay - lots of us are always headed in that direction. Trying to avoid any resort in the vicinity of Patong seems to be the conventional wisdom.

We have stayed at the JW Phuket and it is a fabulous resort - great facilities & great beach, however you should be aware that it is far away from the action and the traffic to get to where all the shops and restaurants and shows, etc. are is bad. We had a driver & it would take at least 45 min. to get to the Patong area in the late afternoon, or to any attractions in the southern part of the island. The next time we go we would pick a resort closer to Patong.

i don t trust TripAdvisor.com. as anyone can write what s/he wishes and these opinions are written by travellers with different travel expectations

i got a problem in Boracay last year where i chose a hotel with 5 stars by the travellers but in reality it was a crap place

thanks for your advise anyway

Yes, I generally do not trust TripAdvisors (and like yourself had bad experience with their ratings) but the JW Marriott Phuket is a truly nice resort. Only complaint is that its too far from anywhere, except the airport !
