Yep, it's a game trying to stay a few steps ahead of the hordes. My folks tell me how quaint Ao Nang used to be, and don't believe that the photos I show them are of the same place. Sometimes "progress" sucks.

I was escorted (with another F pax) from the lounge to the gate. There was no buggy but the walk wasn't far - we were escorted past all the lines and right along the jetway onto the plane.

I got the buggy treatment from the check-in area to the lounge and seemed positively discouraged from going elsewhere. When I said I wanted to buy some medicine, they suggested I ask at the lounge if they had any in their First Aid box.
OK 20 seconds....the first class lounge used to have a glass door into the Royal Silk lounge reception area (which is right across from the Thai Spa Lounge doors), and that was what I was thinking about when I said 2 seconds....[now that glass door has planters in front of it blocking it from use].

I thought the buggy from the base of the escalators (after check-in and immigration) to the first class lounge was a bit much....it just basically saves you from walking the the business class lounge....

good point.....probably a good idea to print out that webpage on THAI's site, if holding a first class ticket on a Star Alliance carrier just in case the lounge matron attempts to stop your entry?

I am travelling BKK-SIN on TG in C and then connecting to SIN-CGK on SQ in F.
I have redeemed F mileage through BMI. The bkk-sin sector is in C because there is no F cabin there.

So am I allowed F lounge access?

How can I prove to the lounge dragons that I have a F ticket redemption?

No.

Your departing flight is in C from BKK. This is what determines which lounge you can access.

Even though the ticket is in F ?
If there is no F cabin, sure there must be some rule to get you access....or is just a case of YMMV?

In broad terms, lounge access is determined by status and the class of your departing flight, and not what has been 'paid' for the ticket (whether by cash or miles).

Lounge access may be granted outside of these basic criteria at the discretion of the owning carrier (or owner) eg to VVIPs.

http://www.staralliance.com/en/benef...access-policy/

I guess technically, your ticket consists of a mixture of F and C sectors, paid in total at the F rate (all your 'choice', you don't have to travel at all....) - which isn't exactly the same thing thing as an F ticket (for the sector concerned.

A hard nosed view might be that if you want access to the F lounge, then ensure you have a *A sector departing BKK, in F - and not somewhere else.

How much different would things be if F was offered BKK-SIN, but there was no availability? But, as you note, YMMV

I know doesn't help - but I'm not aware of any rule for entitlement...

Well we arrived in F from LHR connecting onto J to HKT. We were buggied to the F lounge and there was no question asked.

In this case you arrived in F - hence F lounge access.

Either the inbound or outbound to BKK must be in F. Not an F flight from SIN.

Steve, did you have to ask to be taken there? We hope to do the same thing this week. TG F into BKK, few hours later TG J to HDY.

All I was doing was to challenge the quote about it depending on which class you are departing on as stated by someone else.

No we didn't. The agent was waiting for us and buggied 3 of us to the lounge.

Also at HKT they knew we were F pax from LHR and there was an agent to get our bags off the belt and to escort us to our transport.

On return at HKT when we checked in the lady made a phone call and an agent then escorted us to the lounge even though the flight was only in J and then F from BKK.

Question Will TG escort my partner?

Whenever I fly TG, it is usually by myself, so I've not encountered this before, but essentially I want to know if my partner will be escorted to the plane in the following circumstance.
  • We are both traveling together TG478 SYD-BKK in F and have a layover for one night in Bangkok.
  • The following day, I fly TG922 BKK-FRA in F, departing at 13:15, and my partner flies TG349 BKK-ISB in C, departing at 18:50.
  • We will check-in at TG F together and go to the International First Class Lounge.
Because I leave on the earlier flight, my question is will TG escort my partner to the BKK-ISB flight, even though it is in C.

Do you already know if you get to bring guests into the F lounge?

Yes - I can bring in one guest. Plus, he is on an F ticket but TG don't offer F on The BKK-ISB segment.
