Lightbulb Royal First Menu.. getting bored of it

I've flown F on TG twice last year and is flying again next week (BKK-LHR). Today I received a faxed menu from the reservation office and have been asked to 'pre-select' my main course as per usual First class booking procedure.

The menu for 2007 is exactly the same as the 2006 one (and 2005,2004...). THAI have made a big effort advertising their Royal First cuisine on TV (ads on CNN, BBC) but the actual menu isn't that impressive. They should follow SQ and be more innovative in their offering of premium class food.

Except the Caviar plate, the main course dish is mostly pretty cheap. Breakfast is nice as you get a bowl of yoghurt and/or milk with a choice of cereal. Rice porridge is a joke, it's not even properly cooked and taste worse than the one sold on the street (in the front of my Soi) for 15 baht. Beverages in First is top notch as it has been for decades.

My selections are highlighted in bold. Those in RED are food that I have tried before and tasted pretty bad.

SQ hasn't changed their BTC menu that much in a few years now. Maybe a few, but definitely a lot of the old ones are still there.

I don't have anything to add to this thread but was hoping some others would chime in on their favorites and least favorites on the F menu. I'm not a regular F passenger, but will be making one trip this year and would like suggestions.

There has been a few threads on this topic in the past four months or so.
I have tried a few of those, some repeatedly. As mentioned elsewhere the choice is smaller but with different dishes if you originate out of ZRH, FRA or LHR (strangely no BTC out of CDG). I consistently liked the lobster. The steack ŕ la sompote was vastly overcooked. The hor mok pla average. I often regret having preordered BTC when I see the menu on the flight. But TG is always willing to let me have some of the other food.
Enjoy

BKK-AKL in Jun I pre-ordered the lobster thermidor and was disappointed in the size: http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...rthermidor.jpg

AKL-BKK also Jun, I pre-ordered the fillet beef rossini which was excellent: http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j2...maincourse.jpg

All my pre-order meals on SQ were a big disappointment. Never had a chance to do it on TG but I bet it would still be better than on SQ.

Just my 2 ˘
