quite interesting observation! maybe they try to reserve it for F and those who pay to a service provider. Was there a staff at the entrance, where the sign is, telling people with J tickets or Platinum member that it is closed? You can't see from this point whether the booths are operated or not

As we discovered walking to our baggage carousel other immigration points had only about 100 as opposed to around 400 or 500 as I estimated.
Similarly when we used the J and F security points we only saw one or two other pax.

maybe some fellow FT members could confirm whether they were able to use Premium Lane with a TG J Boarding pass or with a TG Platinum Card?

That's interesting, because I think I was not asked for a card, but I did notice a THAI Business Class boarding pass stub pasted to the window alongside the Premium Lane card. I may well be wrong about this.

It would be nice if someone could confirm or refute this once and for all .

I have used the premium lane without J BP and was questioned once by the officer and she did not accept my Plat card, though I told her the sign displayed the same card. But fortunately she did not send me away and did processed my entry. I did a couple of times use the lane flying Y, but was not checked at all.
These immigration officers are funny people, all dependent on their mood I guess, once I was escorted, flying F to the lanes on the right side (facing inwards) and was asked to present my F BP..... now that is strange!!!!!!!!
I have asked the dragons at the F lounge about the usage of the arrival Fast Track lane for Plats and she said it is our right to use it, but I told her to have THAI make it clear to immigration.
Now that the Immigration Dept have allow my passport to use the auto lanes, I may not have to worry about this any more, for now.

About a year ago the agent spent some time flipping through my 100+ page passport and finally saw something she wanted to show me. Fearing the worst I stepped to the side of the counter but she just wanted to point out that a few months earlier she had processed me for entry into Thailand - her mark was aside the stamp. She smiled, I smiled, and relieved I walked away.

But - even if that is a unchanged rule for years - not every immigration officer seems to know that. I.e. in July an immigration officer asked for my premium lane voucher and I told her about the rule. She wasn't convinced, but she let me proceed.
Last week I did not have any problems - as most of the times. Before I've asked the TG customer service to confirm the rule and they were quite astonished, that the immigration officer in July did not know the rule, that TG C passengers get premium lane without voucher, just with the boarding pass.
Btw: No queues at the immigration on my trips in July and August (both on Fridays around 1pm).
