777-300 to Mel?

Are both flights to MEL always the old 777-300 with non-layflat J seats? I thought they were using the 777-300ers, but it seems all the dates I pick show just the old aircraft.

Actually the opposite is likely to be true... with only the new version of the 777-300 operating from 01 August.

Until then, one daily service is old, one new.

Maybe BRU or FRA. I saw somewhere that they plan to operate A350 for these routes.

Thanks. When you book online though, all the flights (Nov, Dec) say 777-300. Do they not use the identifier 77W or 777-300er?

No, they don't distinguish between 77W and 773. Sorry for any confusion.

The best way to determine the specific type when booking on TG's website is during seat selection. Even then the actual aircraft on the day can change.

My 773 for TG628 today turned into a 772 at the gate. Fortunately we had 14A/B so no need to move us around, but another pair were separated until FA and a volunteer arranged swapped seats.

They do distinguish... the designation '777-200/300' (written in exactly that format) = angled flats, '777-300' (in exactly that format) = full flats. But they don't use 77W or '-er' to distinguish. If you do a dummy booking for say BKK-MEL on 29 June you'll see the above designators, with the TG465 full flats and the TG461 as angled.

TG628 is NEVER a 777-300ER with full flat seats!
luckily you did not take it Saturday or Sunday as it had massive delays. Today it is perfectly on time...

Just flew TG465 today with a massive delay of almost 5 hours. We were all at the gate and at exactly departure time of 00:15, they announced that there is a delay and next announcement wil be at 01:30.

Right engine cowlings were up and looked like they were replacing something. Boarded at 01:50 and taxied around airport until we parked at a remote stand opposite our gate A3 at 03:15 with an announcement that they needed to check something and expected to take 30 minutes. Finally pushed back at 04:20 and took off around 04:45.

Only a little snack post take off and then a full lunch. Old angled seats. Assuming they would rather fix it at BKK than at MEL.

Its a ridiculous meal service on this flight now. Very late dinner, overnight flight and no breakfast on offer.

I never said TG628 was a 777-300ER (77W) ?! That is why I wrote 773...

As an aside, not sure I could have coped with massive delays after an 'on-time' LHR-OSL(SK)-BKK-(HKG)-ICN.

No dinner. Only a small snack of soup after take off and full lunch 2 hours before arrival. Don't think any of us in C partook in the snack.
