B777-200ER to have Premium Economy class and Business class UPGRADE

Reading from Thai's annual Report 2016 Page 21 >> http://thai.listedcompany.com/misc/a...-ar2016-en.pdf

1.1 Passenger Seats
The Company is undertaking a retrofit program of
passenger seats on three Airbus A330-300 aircraft
and six Boeing 777-200ER aircraft to be modernized
and more convenient with the Business-class seats
that can be 180-degree reclined and the premium
Economy-class seats on Boeing 777-200ER as a choice
for the passenger, all of which are expected to be
completed by 2019

only on the 777-200ER though so it's alright, just remember to only use GUP/PUP's on routes with no Premium Economy.

can't wait for the new seats, are they going to be the same as 77W and 380 or new design?

I suppose these six 777-200ER birds will deployed to/from CPH/ARN/DME which I believe are the only (current) destinations with PE. No surprise that the 77W without PE will be deployed elsewhere rather than assigning the rear C cabin to PE pax.

I suppose the C seats will be the same/similar to the C seats on 77W and A380. For the PE seats I have no idea...

Well, it becomes interesting on what they do with the 777-200ER to AKL and MEL then.

Either a cheaper PE fare in that J seat, or a refurb into a lie-flat.

Remember, for BKK-DME, they are simply selling the older J seat as PE. At least for now.

Unless TG is to introduce PE fares to AKL or MEL, I doubt you will see these birds once refurbished at these destinations. My guess is the 77Ws that become available from the CPH/ARN runs (and maybe OSL if PE is introduced; should be possible with 6 aircrafts)

At some point Mel will be A350 (aren't they scheduled once more for later this year?) and AKL will either be 350 or 77W.

when the A345 had Premium Y, GUP was from Y to J, so hope it will also stay this way.

My recent experience was that THAI GUPed Y to PE only, and not Y to J. Th route I was looking at was BKK-CPH where the rear J cabin is sold as PE. I argued with ROP office as the documentation was inconsistent ("one cabin upgrade" and "Economy to business class upgrade") but they were firm on this point.

I changed to BKK-OSL where PE is not sold and problem solved, with GUP Y to J no issue.
