2h30 enough connection time in BKK?
Hi,
I am planning a flight from Phuket to BKK 3-55 - 15:25 and a connecting flight to Sydney at 17:50. Which leaves me about 2h30 for the connection. Both flights are with Thai.
Are the flight usually on time enough or am I cutting it too close? The alternative is to take a Phuket-BKK 10:55AM - 12:25PM flight but that would leave me 5h30 stranded at BKK, and I'd rather avoid that if I don't have to.

2:30 seems reasonable for BKK. I assume you'll be able to just transit since all the flights are on Thai. If you had to exit security, I'd say it was quite tight, time-wise.

flight from Phuket to BKK is on TG, right?
then 2h30 is plenty of time and it is even sufficient, if flight has 60+ minutes delay
you can check in International and go through immigration in Phuket. In BKK you only need to go through transit security into international departure area

No issues providing both flights are on the single reservation HKT-BKK-SYD.
If you have purchased your HKT-BKK separately, then you may not be 'protected' in the event of a delay out of HKT.

Thanks guys. I'll try to check international in Phuket to save time. I will be traveling with a Business or First ticket from BKK to SYD, so any procedures in BKK might be shorter
And yes, unfortunately I will be buying a separate ticket. Good point. I'll just have to wing it I guess.

Even on separate tickets 2h30 is plenty of time. Your inbound flight from HKT needs to be seriously delayed in order for you to miss the SYD flight. TG will check-in you and your bags all the way SYD - TG HKT does that all the time. There is nothing to worry about at all.

On our last flight we waited for the passengers on the late inbound CPH-BKK flight. It was said 60 passengers were connecting to our BKK-SYD flight and we waited close to an hour for them.
I had a late inbound flight and as I wanted a massage in the spa before getting on board, our 1hr massage was cut down to 45 minutes so that we could board on time.
Then whilst on-board, waited almost an hour for the passengers to arrive.
Crew said the biggest delay was the passengers needed to be screened through security again.

Can I ask why it will be a separate ticket? Especially if you are flying business or first on BKK-SYD it would cost bugger all to the the domestic sector to the same reservation most likely.
