Is K a new fare class?
I recently noticed a new fare class being introduced on Beijing route, I have never seen this K class before in any other routes I have flown. It earns 100% and allows changes similar to Q and is classified as FLEXI on TG website, but seems to be a bit cheaper than Q. I am waiting to hear back from ROP whether this is eligible for GUP. Anyone has experience to share on this fare class?

I can add that THAI are currently selling deeply discounted fare from Korea in economy 'L' class. Wifey has also travelled in 'G' class - also deeply discounted.
No miles in either case, can't change seat on-line once selected from a limited range in the rear of the Y cabin.
I'd guess that THAI uses a number if Y fare classes for such market specific sales.

K earns 100% on Air China program while Q earns 50% (we already know Q is a bit more expensive than K).
While on UA, K earns 50% and Q earns 75%. This seems reasonable knowing what we think we know.
But I can never understand why same fare class is classified differently (deep discount vs. normal discount vs. normal economy). As far as I understand it was TG who communicates fare structure to its *A partners...?

Indeed - it also threw a few systems which hadn't updated - so people were buying cheapest Y tickets possible and getting 'Premium Economy' on their e-tickets. Much fun was had.

Since its launch at the beginning of September there has been one published fare sale and it has come to our attention that some customers may have booked under the assumption it was a Premium Economy product.
Therefore as we do not operate a Premium Economy product to/from LHR it is not possible to carry passengers in anything other than Economy Class, should you have any passengers affected by this, a full refund will be offered should they now not wish to travel. The refund can be processed via the BSP link with relevant supporting documents (i.e. a scan of passenger itinerary where wording of Premium Economy Class is displayed next to the cabin description.)

TG has just announced new mileage earning table effective Dec 1, 2016. K class will only earn 75%, same applies for T & S classes, I wonder if this will impact GUP eligibility as previously T/S/K are GUP eligible when they still earn at 100%.

G,V,W,L classes cannot be used in conjunction with Complimentary Platinum and Gold Upgrades. All other paid Economy booking classes are eligible for upgrade use.
