A part of me would find it hilarious to see United get in a turf war with TG for BKK traffic after dumping it from their network.

Agree on SEA being a strange option. It would be interesting how United would respond if Thai Airways try direct BKK<->SFO. Would certainly cut into United/ANA traffic.

I would presume that the SEA flight would be in partnership with AS, which might make a better partner than UA (which has a JV with NH for US<->TH traffic).

I think the choice of cities is being driven by aircraft. With no 350 ULRs on order, TG has to either fly a) weight restricted or b) to SEA or YVR.
Same discussions going on in the respective forums regarding SQ and VN.... but both of those airlines have ULRs on order.
