Thanks. Before making the booking will speak with local Thai office to ensure GUP will be able to be used.

I checked with Seoul office, and my new Gold pack arrived noting only the ineligible fare classes were G/V/W/L.

I think a message from THAI ROP in Bangkok is needed, so I have emailed the Gold Desk.

Can use GUP on K/T/Q class - beware some conditions on fares

K/T/Q eligible for GUP, but note to check carefully if the fare has upgrade limitations. Nice to note the response was within 2 working days - pretty good imho.

Dear Mr. Thai-Kiwi,

Please kindly be noted that nomally the economy booked under G/V/W/L are not eligible for GUP.

For K/T/Q on the nomal fare are available for GUP, however some times the are the special fare offered under K/T/Q with no upgrade condition. So, whenever you will purchase K/T/Q fare, you have to aware of the conditions as well.

Thank you and best regards,

K

Subject: Eligible fare classes for GUP economy to business

Hi,

can you confirm if economy T and K fare classes are eligible for GUP? I heard verbally they were from friends and the Seoul office, but a colleague in tells me the London THAI office is still saying Q or better if you want to use GUP. So there is some confusion

I note my recently arrived Gold Pack welcome letter states simply the ineligible fare classes are G/V/W/L, so it seems T and K should be OK.

I would be grateful if you could confirm T and K classes are valid for use of GUP.

Kind regards,

Mr Thai-Kiwi

Dear Mr X,,

Only if it is a 100% qualifying airfare it can be used for Gold upgrade subject to availability of seats after economy ticket is issued .
When purchasing online you will need to read the terms and conditions of airfare as discounted airfares in K ,T,W,V,L not allowed for redeeming of Gold upgrade. Q ,H,M,B,Y airfares normally can be redeemed for GOLD upgrade.

Best Regards

Sounds like the Melbourne office doesn't have the same information the ROP Gold member desk if providing. I suspect this could be a hangover from before K and T classes came into use and have, perhaps, muddied the water.

The answer may be selling market dependent, possibly the destination as well - and there maybe 2 fare codes associated with each text description. sometimes, the full range doesn't show. Additionally, sales sometimes confuse things.

In Seoul, making a dummy booking ICN-BKK for 10-17 May, I get the following decodes:

Flash Sale - L (not at present but I booked a fare earlier this year in L)
Super Saver - W
Saver - V
Saver Plus - K
Flexi - Q
Full Flex - B

Yet from MEL-BKK or SYD-BKK, the structure is different. Same dates shows:

Super Saver - L (LRLD3AU)
Super Save - W (WRLD3AU)
Thai Saver Plus - W (WLE3MAUE)
Flexi - Q (QRLD3AU)

Information is all available. Most annoying is trying to get a Q fare when K pops up - haven't found a way to 'force' this yet.
