J is J
I flew LH in J a few times to China over the last year and also was disappointed of their food service ....(because of my higher expectations).
But let's not forget: Y is even and much worse - and Thai's Y-food service is really one of the best, at least on routes from Germany to BKK....

It seems that the way in which food service is changed in J. I was on BKK-FRA on the 777-300ER yesterday, no more pushing out trolley and service on trays. Instead plate service is done, just like in F. This cause the service to be quite slow.....

It was really like a restaurant with so much mixing and matching possibilities. Even the ubiquitous garlic bread is no longer available.
Unfortunately due to this change, I could not always get the meals I have choosen.
I think it is a significant improvement.

My gut feeling is that BinSabai is right.. I've never flown TG J domestic, but certainly there is a heck of a difference between TG J shorthaul and longhaul - usually a perfectly edible rice/noodle dish with salad and dessert served on one tray on shorthaul, and only on longhaul would you get proper, delicious full-blown menu with multiple courses.
I would imagine J domestic to be similar to J shorthaul? - in which case, what is there to complain about?? Do people seriously expect the longhaul meal service to be provided on a domestic flight?

Likewise - never ever seen this in shorthaul or longhaul J, always glassware. Shorthaul has the smaller-sized cabin only Thai glassware, whereas longhaul has proper-sized champagne flutes and wine glasses (which most airlines don't have in J - kudos to TG).

This was served on BKK-HKG flight in J. They didn't even bother to remove burned paper.
I flew TG in J twice and both times service and food sucked. (HKG-BKK-HKG).
I'm giving them one more chance, and I'll be flying BKK-MUC in J in couple of months. I sincerely hope that their standard and food will improve.

for me usually 3 out of 4 meals are ok on such short haul flights; you usually have 3 choices, so choose a good one!

Burned paper still in the meal (I'm sorry but that is unacceptable).
What sauce? That meal was dry as Sahara.
And that was preselected meal couple of months out.
On that particular flight, my travel companion didn't get his preselected meal.
"We don't have it, what you gonna do?" attitude from FAs.
Out of my two TG flights in J, only one cabin crew was very nice. Gentleman in his 60s. Other than him I had "I'm too good to be FA" crew on both legs.
I'm giving Thai one more chance in J. This time I'm not expecting a lot.
My trip is two months away but they've already got one strike. I can't select my seats.
Really? People flying long-haul in J cannot pick their seats?
