TG 471 does this have a refurbished first class?

I just booked TG 471 which is a 747-400 BKK to SYD. I did see they have a few flights with just the "747"- which has the new first class, or is it hit or miss?

Thanks a lot

TG 471 is routinely a 744 with the older F; TG 475 is the all-series F with 9 seats.

That is horrible news ! I booked the 747-400 however the next day I see availability on flight TG 475, is there any way I can confirm the seat map of flight 475? I would really like to try the new F. Thanks so much

if seat map shows 9 seats it is the new, if it shows 10 seats, it is the "old" F
however "old" F has also full flat seats! I would not say it is horrible...

We have seats 2 E & F.

So I'm guessing the old F has less privacy? And I meant horrible as in, I booked one thing thinking I was getting that but got another thing - ugh lol

A few years ago the current "old" configuration was the newer, more desirable one

Also, remember that last minute changes are quite common with TG.

you are right! and the old F had 14 angle flat seats, but that is many years ago

a bit less changes recently from my experience. they are more stable and predictable

Not long ago 471 got quite a lot of new F. This month I saw a few times maybe 3-4 so you might be lucky.

Even if old F, I prefer to fly day time so I keep booking 471. I could never sleep well on 475 as it might take at least 4-5 hours after take off then get only a few hours before they wake me up again. My favorite is 476 leaving SYD around 10am and new F but I do see old F showing up from time to time.

actually for day time flights, I prefer old F. Cabin seems more spacious and open; can have a chat; beckon to FA for some more DOM or wine
only for the night flights when I would like to sleep I prefer the privacy of suites!

I don't mind old F but would prefer new F at any time. I like F on A380 best even if people complain about privacy. New F on 747 looks a bit worn out now.

you have really high expectations if you say that the F suites on 747 look worn out.
I also think the A380 suites are a bit better than the ones on 747

Either take row 1 AK or 3EF (if you want to sit together). 2EF are quite exposed. 3EF are off set from the toher rows and afford significantly better privacy.

At the end of the day, old F or new F are both fine.

The 14 F cabins were still full flat - just arranged in pairs. 1st generation full flats. The other F seats (which were on the MD-11 for example) had fully horizontal legrests and deep recline.
