Thai Airways to return to profitability next month.

I think Brunos is just having a dig that they will reverse there decision and take the 2 meant to be delivered this year. Could very easily happen because the manufacturer might hit them up for big costs so they might take them anyway!

Indeed, it is costly to cancel/delay delivery of 12 planes; but if there are airlines interested to get planes immediately, the cost might be reasonable. However, for aircraft scheduled to be delivered in the coming months, the penalty would be high. These ac are prepared to TG specs, seats/galley/entertainment systems have been ordered on in the process of being installed. This is a very different story.

The other argument is that TG is notorious for making announcements that are changed quickly because other parties with influence at TG disagree.

I'm in BKK right now and it's packed with tourists. Massive lines at immigration last night. Many hotels sold out this weekend.

But I flew in on CX

TG also needs to lose its so called deadbeat deadweight 'directors' who muscle in on their 'rights'.

Wasn't it just a few months ago, that a TG director and his family flew to Japan on a trip and had over 200kg of excess luggage waived through...? And ya, they got op up'd too.

Yes. Chinese have replaced the Russians. Not sure who will replace the Chinese when their economy collapses . . . .

tourists from Asia have for many years been the majority of all tourist arrivals in Thailand. This was already the case before outbound tourism from China started to boom

I bought a QR J AMS-BKK ticket during QR's latest prom at 1160 eur, TG asks 3500 (I should have bought 3 at that price). Now if they would price BKK-BRU at max 2000 I would fly them. (QR's prom price BKK-BRU was a reasonable 63k B)

And Been-Sabai, before you comment on you would only fly direct, I prefer a half way stop over, yes also flying J.

Haha, Brunos it looks like what both of us were thinking has come to fruition, they have scheduled the A350 to Melbourne in July!

Left hand not talking to the right hand or they just have no idea.

THAI grounds Airbus A340s it can't sell

Thai Airways International (THAI) will continue grounding 10 Airbus A340s it hasn’t been able to sell because it still isn’t economical to fly the four-engine aircraft even after fuel prices plunged more than 40% in the past year.

"The fuel consumption is so uneconomical," President Charamporn Jotikasthira said in an interview in Bangkok Thursday. "All new planes now have two engines that can fly as long as the four engines with much better fuel efficiency."

Now it's the airplanes' fault that TG can't operate profitably!
