LHR lounge - Business class - TG911 - Which lounge?

Travelling in Business class to BKK on September 16, 2015 on TG 911. Would like to have a sit down and a drink before the flight. Any opinions on best lounges in Terminal 2 now that they are all open? Most want a nice place to sit, a good view, and good selection of booze (realising it will only be 11:00 in the morning, but I am on holiday).

Thanks,
Greg

Surprisingly, I have been hearing really good things about the LHR United Club in Terminal 2. From many posts on the United forum, many are saying this is the best option.

I haven't been there yet (Probably December) so I can't confirm first-hand, but that seems to be the consensus.

LHR lounge - Business class - TG911 - Which lounge?

Both UA RCC and SQ KrisLounge are good and not too far from your gate. Have a search and you will find more info.

UA gives champagne (not sparkling wine) in lounge but SQ don't....if that's what you are after.

Indeed UA Club at LHR is very good. But if you like tea (fortnum and mason) then LH SEN at LHR is also very good for that reason.

Also decent hot or cold breakfast in the UA lounge. Haven't tried SQ.

Minor hassle in T2 is that the satellite is a long way from the main terminal.

Ahhh, 11:00 London will already be 17:00 Bangkok time. Which means time for an aperitif (and you'd surely adjust to the time difference more quickly )

I second all of the recommendations for UA, for every single one of the reasons on your wishlist, especially the booze - they serve booze from the bar, and both wines and cocktails are thoroughly excellent. I also like the buzz - the decor is nice, it almost feels like a hotel cocktail bar in Manhattan, and in my experience it is never too busy (having experienced it at various times of day, though not in the morning). And as others have commented, great hot food too.

In contrast, the T2 Air Canada Maple lounge feels a bit... boring. The decor is fine, the booze is fine, it's just a bit too quiet, quite possibly overshadowed by its more exciting American neighbour!! And the new SQ lounge is extremely disappointing, 1990s decor, just a bit bog standard. I have not tried LH.

You won't be disappointed with UA lounge, but heed others' warning that it is a good 15-20 minutes walk from the main terminal, so you'll want to do all of your overpriced duty free shopping before hand. On the plus side, it is extremely close to the gates (last time I took an ANA flight, the gate was practically opposite the lounge entrance), so you can finish your cocktail in a manner leisurely and stroll across to gate as they start making final calls..

P.S. The UA lounge and even the AC lounge are a far cry above the T3 SAS lounge, which *G flyers had to suffer as recently as last year (before all *G operations moved to T2). It's so small that they had to install it on two floors - I hated it, because my boss always would always sit on the upper floor, and I was the one carrying all the heavy meeting papers in my hand luggage...

Great - thanks for the advice everyone! Looks like the UA lounge it is, though I might pop into the Air Canada lounge for a quick peek around before settling in UA.

LH Senator lounge just through the business lounge has great breakfast. By the time you are finished there, walk over to the United lounge ( about 15 mins) where you will get a terrific Margarita. Works for me every time at LHR.

Hi! I´m new here.

Im traveling from LHR via BKK on TG F, should i just use the same lounges mentioned here, or is there a F lounge that tops it all?

Hi and Welcome.

United runs an International First Class lounge, which you will have access to based on your departing TG flight. There is also a SilverKris lounge (First Class) that you should have access to as well.

Neither will provide an "over the top" experience like the spa in Bangkok or the Mercedes ride in Frankfurt, but they should be a nice place to wait out flight boarding.

at least better then FRA or ZRH, where LH and LX reserve their F lounges for their own passengers and TG F passengers have no access!

Yes, extremely shoddy behaviour by LH and LX, especially as Thai does not exclude their F passengers from the Thai F lounge in BKK.....which they should do!!!
