Well, blow me. Surprises never cease.
Thai re-introduce their second flight from 25th October - using a 2 class 773.
Currently loaded until 26th March 2016, usual TG 916/917 times.
May I respectfully suggest that if anyone wants a Xmas holiday from the UK, get booking now whilst availabilty at W/V/Z class is good over prime dates.
And i'm still mystified how they got around the slot usage at LHR. But fundamentally - Good News!

This is great news, like Sam Bee I wonder how TG has got around the 'use it or lose it' problem.
TG are going to need very keen prices and much better marketing with a daily capacity of 741 economy seats and 102 business. The two B747 they could not fill before had 650/80 total.

They don't really have the planes now the A340's are gone. And I would suggest they are much better off putting a flat bed product on the route so they can at least compete with the business market. Previously when running B747's they were pretty much the only main carrier with angled beds in Business class on that route.

All of Thai's cheapest ex-LHR fares are 1 month max stay. Mind you you should easily be able to get for Ł730, and don't forget they chuck in a couple of free internal flights (Ł730 available - 01 Nov to 15 Dec).

I'm struggling once again with these latest decisions by THAI.
At about the beginning of the year they were working on improving their financial position by cutting routes that were not very profitable. The BKK-LHR route had two flights, a 747 and an A340, giving about 325+199=524 economy seats and 40+60=100 business seats.
They decided to use only one flight from July 1st, using an A380, so 435 economy seats and 60 business.
About one week into that single flight service they announce a restart of the second flight in October using a 77W, so now they have 435+306=741 economy seats and 60+42=102 business.
They will have an increase of 217 economy and 2 business seats from their original capacity, which they wanted to reduce!
I can't get my head around the logic behind this......
Having said all that, I do much prefer the TG916 and 917 flights, and was disappointed at having to use the TG910 and 911. However the A380 made things a little more bearable.

In the future:
Maybe they will down gage TG910/911 back to a 747
Maybe they will down gage TH916/917 to a 787 (when they have the equipment)
And are you so sure the were losing money on the LHR-BKK flights?

Reducing BKK-LHR from two flights a day to one flight a day was part of those changes.
It would seem contrary to common sense to cut a profitable route in order to improve their financial situation, but this is THAI we are talking about.

Maybe Thai didn't manage to realise the amounts they hoped for from selling the slots and it works out more beneficial to schedule in another season of flights using the second slots, and look to sell them from next April?
Still doesn't help answer what they have done with the slots until October. We're not that charitable in the UK with slots at LHR to allow them to forego flights for a few month when they fancy it...

IMO they did not want to lose the slot and had to operate it, and based on their current fleet the 77W was the logical choice at this time.
In the future:
Maybe they will down gage TG910/911 back to a 747 This is an extremely bad idea because the Business Class seat cannot be compared with the other airlines that is flying in this route.
