Thumbs down First Class Lounge in Terminal E at BKK gone!

Today I had a departure from a E gate, so I walked all along the D terminal to the Royal Orchid Lounge E, which always had a small F lounge
it is still listed in the website:
http://www.thaiairways.com.hk/en_HK/...#div1-section3
Royal Orchid Lounge E West accommodate 20 First Class Passenger and 91 Business Class Passenger

now it's gone! all business class only. No menu and no champagne, just the mediocre Business Class Catering! Talked with 2 staff and they confirmed this additional decrease of service!
Luckily I stayed the first hour in the normal FCL in D and just wanted to stay the last 20' in the E lounge, otherwise I am not sure whether all staff there would still be alive

Not much of a loss. The F section in the E lounge was nothing to right home about.

right home??

If you had a departure at E, F or G terminals it was nice to have this lounge as alternative and avoid last minute walks in a hurry over 1000 meters to the gates from main FCL in D. That was the main purpose.
After all they had the same menu and beverages like the main FCL and that's really not too bad

Typo - "write" home about.

To be honest, when I've flown out of E, F or G, I rarely bothered to to use the F lounge. If I had enough time, I used the main FCL. With a tight connection, I usually just parked in one of the sleeping births in business section of the E concourse lounge.

..."walk 100m"....?
I would have expected that they drive you by one of the golf carts by which First Class passengers are being picked-up upon arrival, too.
Is there no such service for departing F-class customers, too?

More often than not you need to walk to the gate with the TG escort. Up until 2/3 years ago I recall you did a small walk and then the cart the rest of the way. Can't honestly remember last time l was taken on a cart when departing. Some of the gates are quite far away but l guess the walk is good for us!

If you are departing in F out of E, F or G concourses, TG provides buggy service to the nexus of those three terminals, and from there they escort you on foot back up through security and to your gate. If you leaving out of the A,B,C, or D concourse they walk you to your gate.

If arrive in F and depart in C, you can use the FCL lounge but there is no escort to your departing gate.

I recently arrived on a TG F flight with an eleven hour layover at BKK before my C domestic departure and was denied access to the F lounge. I really wanted to have a shower and a shave after traveling over 24 hours. Despite my requests, they would not allow me to use a lounge with a shower. It was not exactly a welcome to Thailand moment from Thai Airways.

did they give you a reason for not let you in?
of course you were not supposed to be in international departure without boarding pass for a international flight. So you tricked the dragon at the escalator. I always thought if you pass the escalator, they will let you in in the lounge. So that is totally new dimension of enforcing their rules...

Those are the rules. The international lounges (F and C) are not available for pax arriving international and departing domestic. Some of us have figured ways around the problem, but the airport authority does not allow it and gets very strict from time to time.

If I have 11 hours I usually head over to the Novotel for a swim, massage and nap.

No, I never got past the elevator dragon. That is where I got diverted to the domestic C lounge where I had A shave in the rest room and changed my clothes since I needed to take care of some business in town during the long layover. Oh well, can't win em all. I tried.

so did the escort refuse to bring you to the F lounge in the international area or did the dragon not let you pass? at least you can not say that they did not let you into the FCL as you were not at their door!

The escort took me to the elevator lady who would not allow me to go up. Then I was diverted through a security check and escorted to the domestic C lounge. There I explained that I had been traveling for over 24 hours and would like to be able to take a shower and change my clothes. They were totally unreceptive to my repeated request . It was basically no, no , and no. And I thought the Thais liked to bathe 3 times per day.

That's weird. I've gone by the elevator dragon with an escort close to hundred times and have never been stopped or asked for a boarding pass.

quite a difference: sure the elevator dragon does not stop a passenger who follows a escort or ground staff and ask for the boarding pass
but in above case the escort took the passenger to the elevator dragon and let her be the bad person, who deny access to international departure area (thai style!)
