12-hour layover: lounge first, then downtown?
We are *G, arriving BKK 6:15 AM and leaving 6:30 PM for Phuket.
Can we go thru security as if we are connecting, eat and snooze in the lounge, then leave the secure area and go downtown for a few hours?

If you would like to go downtown, just leave domestic departure/arrival area as you have already immigrated into Thailand. You can go through domestic security with your boarding pass at door 2

I wouldn't bother going to the TG domestic lounge when you land. Just head into the city and have breakfast and enjoy things and then you can do the lounge when you come back if you have the time. Not many frills but beats a United Club!

Hi I am * G, looking at this itinerary: USM-BKK on Bangkok Airways and BKK-BOM on Air India. As my departing flight will be on AI - will I have access to the TG lounges for me and my wife during the layover? Or do I have to fly TG to get access?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Departing BKK on Air India will give you lounge access in Bangkok, you can choose the Thai lounges or any other star lounge (for example SQ if it is open).
(Note there may be a restriction on star gold passengers accessing the Thai Lounge on Concourse D - which is listed as a business class only lounge - although some have reported no problems gaining access if flying economy. There are several other TG lounges however which welcome star gold.)

As a star alliance gold passenger you have access to star alliance lounges when departing on a star alliance carrier.

Upon your return you can access the domestic biz lounge for a short time (they don't serve alcohol BTW) prior to your departure to HKT.

I have a question for this esteemed forum. Mrs. LSQ, I and our 2 kids are arriving in BKK from MUC on TG 925. Mrs is travelling on TG First and the rest of us in business. We arrive around 6.30ish in the morning and our onward flight from BKK to HKT is not until 4pm in the evening that day (all 4 of us in TG business). We don’t want to spend the 10 hr layover in the domestic TG lounge.
1. Is there any way we can spend some time in the TG Royal Silk lounge in the international departure area before continuing to the domestic side of BKK. Please note that TG will most likely offer their golf cart service when we arrive in BKK as Mrs is travelling in First. Should we ask the cart attendant to take us to the international side instead of the domestic side. If there is any way to get there please let me know.
2. If we do manage to reach the international Royal Silk lounge, will they let us in as we only have domestic business class BPs for our onward connection.
3. Lastly if we do have to go to the domestic side, is there a better * A lounge than TG?
Thank you all in advance for your guidance.

officially you are NOT able to go to international lounge without valid international boarding pass; however many have done this before (you have to pass the checking staff at the escalator from arrival to departure area), but don't expect that the escort brings you there; they don't want to risk their job by breaking the rules...
TG domestic is the ONLY domestic *A lounge in domestic departure area

I wouldn't stay in the international business class lounge for any more than a couple of hours, and even for the F lounge, I had a 6 hour transit and was pretty much climbing the walls.

For 10 hours - I'd walk across the road (or book in advance - Accor currently has a sale on) and check-in to the Novotel. You'll have a room, beds to sleep, and all the amenities of the hotel to enjoy.

I am curious, why are you not taking the first connecting flight to Phuket at 07:45? There are also another 4 TG flights before the 16:55 flight. Why waste a day at an airport when you and the family could be on a beach in Phuket?

Good question. It is a long story but some scheduling changes etc resulted in this long layover. Having said that we have more than 3 weeks to enjoy the beaches of HKT, USM and DPS. Looking forward to it ^
