Of course, UA's online system shows a 330, and no O class available...
Edit: UA phone agent was able to book me in O class on the "330". She apologized for not being able to request an F class seat
Even if CA does choose to operate with a 330 instead of a 773 over the winter, their lieflat J class is much better than the 773 non-flat J class seat that was showing on the TG site when I faked a booking for my dates.
If everything works out, I'll get to experience F class on UA, TG (A380), CA and OZ (a380) during my trip

Have you got the Thai PNR? If not you will need to call or email Thai and ask for it. Then you can check your booking and select seats/meals on Thai's website through their manage my booking function.

Thanks. Just sent them emails. Have received a reply for my outbound flight, still waiting for my inbound. When I checked using the 'manage my booking' function, the aircraft is still 747 and the booking status is still on F. Fingers crossed.

Apparently they're going to be taking it off permanently and streamlining the service so they have 2 daily 777's instead of the daily 744 and the 3 a week 777. So no more first class TG to Aus then?
In other related news. HS-TKW Thais 5th? 77W is currently being flown from the Everett factory to BKK. I noticed that TG465/466 have been changed from the normal 777-200 to the 77w from the 1st of September to the 25th of October. So fingers crossed that Melbourne will get 2 daily 77w's instead of just the overnights!!!!!

Business class picks up a middle seat on the TG472/471 flights, which isn’t found in business on the airline’s Boeing 747 fleet.
The angle of the ‘sloping sleeper’ business class seats remains the same between the Boeing 747 and Boeing 777 aircraft, sitting at a near-flat 170 degrees.
A Thai Airways spokesperson could not yet advise which variant of the Boeing 777 will be used on the airline's daily TG476/475 run, although confirmed that Thai would no longer offer first class to Sydney – and thus, Australia.
If Sydneysiders luck out, Thai's newer Boeing 777-300ER aircraft come fitted with 180-degree fully-flat beds in business class – a 10-degree improvement over that found in business on the Boeing 747.

Was able to successfully change my first award routing from SYD-BKK-ICN (all on TG) to SYD-PEK-ICN (all on CA) to take advantage CAs aircraft change to a 777-300ER in January of next year. While the service and food on CA leaves much to be desired, I figured it's a better option than an angled-flat biz seat on Thai.
Now, here's to hoping my updated reservation doesn't get mysteriously cancelled!
Side-note: My reservation on TG was still reflecting a 747 prior to the change, but I am assuming all of the schedules should be updated soon.

And that is what I am holding onto as a sliver of hope that they may delay the change by a week or two rather than both flights changing on the same day. I would have thought they would want to stagger the changes for ease of reaccomodating affected pax.
