Q: Which routes have full flat seats in Royal Silk?
A: Only the Airbus A380-800, A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER, 787-8 and 787-9 feature full flat seats in Royal Silk. The A380 is used on the following routes: LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX and NRT.
The B777-300ER regularly serves these destinations: OSL, CPH, ARN, FRA, BRU, ZRH, VIE, SIN, PVG, PEK, MEL and BNE. It also regularly flies domestic runs to HKT and CNX.
Q: Which routes get the new 747 «suites»?
A: Any route which is scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 747 might see the new «suites», but some routes are more likely to get them (but not guaranteed). These routes are: MUC, HKG, HND and SYD. Flights to HKT are often operated by the them, although these flights are without First class service.
Q: What are the chances of ending up on one of the old Boeing 747s with recliner seats in Royal First and Silk?
A: 0 %. All Boeing 747s have been converted and feature full flat seats in Royal First and angle flat seats in Royal Silk. Every seat in Economy also features a PTV with AVOD and AC power (every two seats).
Q: To which destinations do TG offer Royal First?
A: LHR, CDG, FRA, MUC, HKG, KIX, NRT, HND and SYD. Flights to PEK and PVG have "seasonal" (rather occasional) F service.
Q: Which version of the Boeing 777 features Royal First?
A: None. TG leased a handful of Boeing 777-300ERs from Indian Jet Airways a few years ago, that had eight enclosed first class suites. These aircraft have been returned to Jet Airways and are no longer in the fleet.

and I prefer the lower deck as there are larger overhead bins (larger travel on luggage does not fit into those on upper deck) and you are faster out of the plane

OK Thanks for the two opinions.
These differences seem pretty standard for 747 upper vs lower across airlines. As long as there is no glaring differences on TG, I will probably take Upper Deck.

These differences seem pretty standard for 747 upper vs lower across airlines. As long as there is no glaring differences on TG, I will probably take Upper Deck.

TG is quite unique actually due to it's side galley , so the J cabin downstairs is very different to any you have probably seen

I have the same option as the OP, upstairs or downstairs, I chose upstairs for the coolness factor I guess.
Now I'm a bit concerned about the bins. Would a standard sized carry-on fit if placed sideways?

The bins are very narrow at the front of the upper deck and just narrow towards the back. Whether a roll aboard which is officially carry on size will fit will depend on the individual size. Even with a relatively small one I've had the FAs stop me as I'm heading up the stairs telling me to put it in a lower deck locker.

there is also a cabinet in the rear of the upper deck, where they could store large bags

the cabinet or the floor behind the last row on upper deck have the disadvantage, that you have no control whether some fellow passengers put their large cases on top of yours!
So I would only do that we very robust cases, that can't be damaged...

BKK PEK A330 2. generation
the difference between 1. and 2. is not huge, I actually prefer 1.
