FAQ

Q: Which routes have full flat seats in Royal Silk?
A: Only the Airbus A380-800, A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER, 787-8 and 787-9 feature full flat seats in Royal Silk. The A380 is used on the following routes: LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX and NRT.
The B777-300ER regularly serves these destinations: OSL, CPH, ARN, FRA, BRU, ZRH, VIE, SIN, PVG, PEK, MEL and BNE. It also regularly flies domestic runs to HKT and CNX.

Q: Which routes get the new 747 «suites»?
A: Any route which is scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 747 might see the new «suites», but some routes are more likely to get them (but not guaranteed). These routes are: MUC, HKG, HND and SYD. Flights to HKT are often operated by the them, although these flights are without First class service.

Q: What are the chances of ending up on one of the old Boeing 747s with recliner seats in Royal First and Silk?
A: 0 %. All Boeing 747s have been converted and feature full flat seats in Royal First and angle flat seats in Royal Silk. Every seat in Economy also features a PTV with AVOD and AC power (every two seats).

Q: To which destinations do TG offer Royal First?
A: LHR, CDG, FRA, MUC, HKG, KIX, NRT, HND and SYD. Flights to PEK and PVG have "seasonal" (rather occasional) F service.

Q: Which version of the Boeing 777 features Royal First?
A: None. TG leased a handful of Boeing 777-300ERs from Indian Jet Airways a few years ago, that had eight enclosed first class suites. These aircraft have been returned to Jet Airways and are no longer in the fleet.

Q: Which destinations are served by wifi enabled planes?
A: Airbus A380 on routes to LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX, NRT. A330 (Only the 33H-version) on routes to PER, TPE, PVG, HKG, KIX, ICN and other intra Asian routes. A350 on routes to MEL.

All of the information above is based on seat maps from TG's own website and fleet information from planespotter(dot)com, as well as on information already available on this forum thanks to its dedicated members. Cabin views are from airliners(dot)net and jetphotos(dot)net.

Please feel free to comment if you have more information and if anything I've written is false. I appreciate all the help I can get.

And remember: There is always the possibility of being TG'ed (being subject to a last minute equipment change). Thus you never know which aircraft and configuration you will get until you actually set foot on the aircraft.

Happy flying!

Thanks for pulling this together. Great info to navigate the TG a/c configurations. I'm booked on a 773 doing the CTS-BKK run (TG671) and this helped figure out what type of seat we would get (old 2-3-2 layout). It's a day flight so I think we will manage with the older type seat.

772ER. So yes, angled flat. Note the word flat is used pretty loosely here...this is definitely not a flat sleeping surface.

Thanks!

A seriously great effort here kimman to put this summary together!

I haven't checked the seating threads here for a couple of months and I was dreading the constant searching, thread switching, and head scratching that came with trying to figure out what that F or J seat was going to look like!

Thank you ^

Would anyone in this forum know what seats I will get on business ticket between MUC and BKK (747 upper level)? Is there a picture link of this seat someone can share?

Looking at recent flights it seems it is normally operated by the (from the wiki post) HS-TGA, B, F, G, Y and Z 747s but fairly frequently also gets the HS-TGO, P, R, T, W and X 747s...on that basis I'd say it's a lottery on MUC!

the J seats, both angle flat on the two 747 types are pretty similar while the F are very different (suite versus older seat)
so actually when flying J, I would not care which type of 747 is coming...

Any idea when all the older 747's cabin interior were changed?

I know for sure according to my logged flight memory that TGA and TGB from BKK-SYD-BKK back in mid Feb 2014 still did not have any IFE on each seat in Y! I was shocked that they were still using the old school projectors and TV's! That was one horribly long boring flight.

Thanks for the excellent wiki.I was a Gold Elite on TG for 6 years but haven't a clue for the last few years hence this question for the regulars. I am looking at flying to BKK and back ex Europe. Can fly from any point. I know the A380 is a good be but wanted to try out the 77W or the new First on the 747. Where would I be guaranteed 747 new F or the 77W flat beds.
