FAQ

Q: Which routes have full flat seats in Royal Silk?
A: Only the Airbus A380-800, A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER, 787-8 and 787-9 feature full flat seats in Royal Silk. The A380 is used on the following routes: LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX and NRT.
The B777-300ER regularly serves these destinations: OSL, CPH, ARN, FRA, BRU, ZRH, VIE, SIN, PVG, PEK, MEL and BNE. It also regularly flies domestic runs to HKT and CNX.

Q: Which routes get the new 747 suites?
A: Any route which is scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 747 might see the new suites, but some routes are more likely to get them (but not guaranteed). These routes are: MUC, HKG, HND and SYD. Flights to HKT are often operated by the them, although these flights are without First class service.

Q: What are the chances of ending up on one of the old Boeing 747s with recliner seats in Royal First and Silk?
A: 0 %. All Boeing 747s have been converted and feature full flat seats in Royal First and angle flat seats in Royal Silk. Every seat in Economy also features a PTV with AVOD and AC power (every two seats).

Q: To which destinations do TG offer Royal First?
A: LHR, CDG, FRA, MUC, HKG, KIX, NRT, HND and SYD. Flights to PEK and PVG have "seasonal" (rather occasional) F service.

Q: Which version of the Boeing 777 features Royal First?
A: None. TG leased a handful of Boeing 777-300ERs from Indian Jet Airways a few years ago, that had eight enclosed first class suites. These aircraft have been returned to Jet Airways and are no longer in the fleet.

Q: Which destinations are served by wifi enabled planes?
A: Airbus A380 on routes to LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX, NRT. A330 (Only the 33H-version) on routes to PER, TPE, PVG, HKG, KIX, ICN and other intra Asian routes. A350 on routes to MEL.

All of the information above is based on seat maps from TG's own website and fleet information from planespotter(dot)com, as well as on information already available on this forum thanks to its dedicated members. Cabin views are from airliners(dot)net and jetphotos(dot)net.

Please feel free to comment if you have more information and if anything I've written is false. I appreciate all the help I can get.

And remember: There is always the possibility of being TG'ed (being subject to a last minute equipment change). Thus you never know which aircraft and configuration you will get until you actually set foot on the aircraft.

Happy flying!

nope, not for me at least. I like sitting in the back of the 77W in J because it's a small private cabin it's just that at boarding, Y passengers have to walk pass you creating lots of noise.

i think it's just that people tend to fill seats at the front first so that's why the back cabin has more seats available.

about the junior FA's, I have no problems with them and they seem to have the same level of service as the 'older' FA's IMO.

on TG, the most junior FA's are serving in Y...
in my experience no difference in service between first and second cabin
only disadvantage of second cabin is (as BennyW mentioned) that all Y passengers will walk through and jealously look at you; if you are a Exhibitionist, you will like it!

Yeah, I think we can handle a of minor inconvenience during boarding. As long as service is consistent between both J cabins, I could care less about how experienced the FA is.

Having both bulkhead seats in the second cabin is a good compromise for not being in the front cabin. If Y pax are jealous, then that's their problem, especially since these are award seats and they could just as easily fly in J as well.

the bulkhead seats in the second cabin are good, the ones at the window have even more space...

How noisy is galley/bathroom?

Flying the 777-300ER in the fall with a friend (MEL-BKK, BKK-PEK). Is row 11 E/F Ok? Or is there a lot of noise from the galley/restroom? Is 14 E/F a better choice?

14E/F is better. More towards the center of the cabin.

Agree. 14 or even 16EF are better than 11. Front row way too close to the action, too much traffic and galley activity.

i do not mind to be in the front row (11) as noise from the galley is usually not big during the night and I wear a ear plug anyway for sleeping. Advantage is that you get usually served first and are first out of the plane

I just booked (F)SYD-(C)BKK-DPS. The seatmap + info for the BKK-DPS is showing 747 with F cabin. I am also currently seated in the F cabin also. Is this normal?

yes - this is normal for some routes where there's an F cabin but no F is sold. Your seat should stick provided the F cabin is open on the day... if they decide to close it you would be moved. But leave your seat where it is now - much better than the alternatives in business class!

and you got the F seat, because you are flying first leg in F (otherwise it is according to Status)
no F sold on this route to DPS, also very rarely seen a 747 on this route

https://www.flightradar24.com/data/flights/tg431 looks like it's on it quite a bit at the moment. No biggie either way for me with it being a relatively short daytime flight but could be a nice surprise .

Curious, did you book this with TG awards or did you use UA partner award. I ask because I'm currently trying to book this route in reverse and getting a bit of pushback from UA.
