FAQ

Q: Which routes have full flat seats in Royal Silk?
A: Only the Airbus A380-800, A350-900, Boeing 777-300ER, 787-8 and 787-9 feature full flat seats in Royal Silk. The A380 is used on the following routes: LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX and NRT.
The B777-300ER regularly serves these destinations: OSL, CPH, ARN, FRA, BRU, ZRH, VIE, SIN, PVG, PEK, MEL and BNE. It also regularly flies domestic runs to HKT and CNX.

Q: Which routes get the new 747 «suites»?
A: Any route which is scheduled to be operated by a Boeing 747 might see the new «suites», but some routes are more likely to get them (but not guaranteed). These routes are: MUC, HKG, HND and SYD. Flights to HKT are often operated by the them, although these flights are without First class service.

Q: What are the chances of ending up on one of the old Boeing 747s with recliner seats in Royal First and Silk?
A: 0 %. All Boeing 747s have been converted and feature full flat seats in Royal First and angle flat seats in Royal Silk. Every seat in Economy also features a PTV with AVOD and AC power (every two seats).

Q: To which destinations do TG offer Royal First?
A: LHR, CDG, FRA, MUC, HKG, KIX, NRT, HND and SYD. Flights to PEK and PVG have "seasonal" (rather occasional) F service.

Q: Which version of the Boeing 777 features Royal First?
A: None. TG leased a handful of Boeing 777-300ERs from Indian Jet Airways a few years ago, that had eight enclosed first class suites. These aircraft have been returned to Jet Airways and are no longer in the fleet.

Q: Which destinations are served by wifi enabled planes?
A: Airbus A380 on routes to LHR, CDG, FRA, HKG, KIX, NRT. A330 (Only the 33H-version) on routes to PER, TPE, PVG, HKG, KIX, ICN and other intra Asian routes. A350 on routes to MEL.

All of the information above is based on seat maps from TG's own website and fleet information from planespotter(dot)com, as well as on information already available on this forum thanks to its dedicated members. Cabin views are from airliners(dot)net and jetphotos(dot)net.

Please feel free to comment if you have more information and if anything I've written is false. I appreciate all the help I can get.

And remember: There is always the possibility of being TG'ed (being subject to a last minute equipment change). Thus you never know which aircraft and configuration you will get until you actually set foot on the aircraft.

Happy flying!

I will be flying two TG flights in July (both in J), and just had a few questions about seating configuration.

First flight is TG426 from PEN-BKK on an A320:

Am I correct in assuming that this is the Thai Smile A320 with "European-style Business," i.e. Y seats with a blocked off middle?

Second flight is TG664 from BKK-PVG on an 777-300:

According to the TG website, the 777-300 should be angle-flat with a 2-3-2 layout. However, the seat map looks more like the 777-300ER, which has the 1-2-1 flat beds. The seat selection page says 777-300, so should I be expecting the 773 or the 77W J product?

Yes.

This is down to the coding of aircraft types on the TG website. When the website lists '777-300' that means 777-300ER (77W). If the operating is aircraft is in fact 777-300(non ER) the website will say '777-200/300'. Therefore you should expect 77W as per the seat map.

Thanks for the quick reply! Glad to see that it will be the 77W, especially since it's a relatively short flight. Just one more question: since TG426 on the A320 is operated by TG, is the soft product any different from typical TG J?

soft product is similar, but they will serve meal together on one tray (they do this also on BKK SIN in wide body aircraft due to short flight distance); so starter, main and desert will be served together on a tray rather than one by one on longer flights

777-300ER to Shanghai has recently been rather stable!

This cannot be right, I'm afraid.

My booking says exactly "777-300", however, the seatmap looks more like the "real" 777-300 rather than the 777-300ER.

Post TG A380 business class best legroom advice

Hello,

I have a trip booked with TG for the first time in many years flying MEL-CDG return next month and so have 2 sectors scheduled on the A380.

I am quite tall at about 195cm (6'5") and have read that TG business class seats are not overly long .

Can anyone provide advice on any business class seats that may provide additional legroom, or are they all pretty much the same?

I also have 2 sectors scheduled on what look to be the old-style angled B777 aircraft, but fortunately both of those sectors are scheduled for daytime ops (MEL-BKK // BKK-MEL).

Any legroom advice appreciated for any sectors.

With thanks,

tb

Not sure the best seats for a tall person on the A380. On the 777-200ER's used to Melbourne the leg room is actually awesome. There is actually enough space that with a better seat design they probably could have gone flat. Though row 11 is probably your best bet for an extra inch or so. Though you get a bit of disturbance from the galley there. The 777 seats are actually ok for a day flight. It is with the night flights that they are severely lacking.

Hi Tallboy,

I'm afraid all the Business Class seats on the A380 are identical in terms of legroom and, at only 5'11", I cannot even stretch out comfortably. The footwell is very narrow.

Legroom and space in the First Class suites is great so, at 6'5" that's your only option really!!

TG 413 BKK to SIN switch to 787 March 10, 12

was just notified of a change of equipment from an A340-600 to a 787 on this route. Given 12 E & 12 F. Good seats? Aisle access for both.

the A340 was retired since Q1 this year
12E and F have both isle access and are probably the best seats on this plane if you do not want window seat
