My point was that I wasn't informed. even at checkin the seat chart showed the a380. Normally this would be a schedule change event to be emailed ahead of the day of flight. But it apparently didn't make it into the star alliance system. (I was on 014 ticket stock)
And I went through a ticket change and associated fee to catch this equipment. All I want is my change fee back. Of course 014 tells me it's not their problem and contact tg (why would tg refund a fee pocketed by aeroplan?!).

I was complaining about that 4 months ago as their also called long standing customer. Did i get an answer? not yet maybe like my missing miles they will wait when i get old and forget.

FRA-BKK downgrade to 747
Honestly I would always prefer the 747 over the 380. In any class. I find the 380 very noisy inside and don't like it much. I'm always glad and happy flying with the old grande dame

As far as cabin noise is concerned, I think you will find a very large majority of people to disagree with you and I am one of them .

Yeah but somehow I cannot sleep on the 380, but I can sleep on the 747. I always wear ear plugs and find vibrations from 380 engines into the C and F seats on the airbus, when in bed/sleep position, quite noisy. That's certainly a "special case" situation and I'm not sure if Airbus ever tried noise and vibration reduction measurements when pax wearing earplugs in bed/sleep position. Somehow the 747 is better towards that aspect

Please everybody remember:
the contract between an airline and you, whatever paying passenger you are (award, promotional-fare or First class paying fare) is defined by "air transportation between point A and point B within a certain fixed time frame in a clearly stated service class and including a specified checked baggage allowance....but nothing else! The equipment used is simply not part of the contract and therefore hardly and airline sees any need to communicate "equipment changes" to its passengers before departure!

of course on a pure contractual level you are correct! But the airlines offer/promise much more than just "transportation from A to B" and one is the offered seat on a indicated plane.

TG Plat is by invitation only. Looks like an "insider" response....

TG Plat is open to anyone who fulfils the very much publicly available qualification criteria, so no need to be an "insider".
