I'm flying that flight this weekend and every time I check the seat map I see a 10 seater first class.

Catering: Better to pre-book meal?

I've read the comments about the FRA-BKK flights. I have a trip next month. Should I pre-book my meal or depend on the catered menus?

Thanks for your opinion!

Long haul F going downhill again ?

in F from BKK to FRA they have sushi as option for prebooking.
a great choice of higher quality ingredients matching the rest of the F menu nicely IMO.

Book a meal that would be nice as a starter, say the lobster although I am one of those who thought it dry, then you can choose a main course as well.

Somkiat has the best post on airline food but I can't remember where. Seek it out. I think the gist of it was if you expect a steak to be nice you are delusional. For my part I choose a dish that will tolerate storage and microwave re-heating i.e. a curry or similar. Also, I could not give a toss whether economy pax are having the same meal which seems to concern so many here more than whether it is tasty.

If you like your steak well done - TG is for you.

I do think TG F have gone down hill.

Last Sunday I was approached in the F lounge in BKK to be told that my next flight was delayed (so they knew I was there).

Close to boarding time I asked what was happening regarding boarding to be told they are closing the flight?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Asked where the buggy to the flight was, told it had gone and I would need to walk - but they would hold the flight for me.

Walked the 800M and admonished by some Thai lackey that I was holding up departure (only made me walk VERY slowly).

Boarded to have both the Purser and Pilot waiting at the door to tell me that I had held the whole flight up!?!?!?

I informed both, and did on arrival, of my intention to cancel $12,000USD of Thai bookings made for the next two months.

Just appalled.

And then 1 bag was left in BKK which just iced the cake.

So, when an airline made an error, you further inconvenienced an entire plane full of people in a fit of pique over the error?

Hmm. "Lackey" and mentioning the business you're going to take away to the crew as well, some pretty classic hallmarks. I'm afraid I don't know who you are, though I am sure I should.

when anyone tries to imply that I am at fault for their error, yes.

If you choose to be a doormat, all power to you.

I have removed a couple of posts which consisted of name calling, and they were fairly unkind names. We won't have any of that. Everyone play nicely, now....

I have not read this thread for a while, but am wondering about the post from VH-RMD.

If I would be in the first class lounge (flying in first) and the staff would come to me informing me the flight is delayed, thats a shame but good information handling.

If then at some point I need to go to the staff and ask about the flight boarding that would in my book be a concern.

So when I then hear from the staff the flight is closing, my expectation would be that they arrange a buggy/escort to the gate as per the normal TG ground service. If this did not happen and was told to walk there myself and be greeted by staff blaming me for a delay that would tick me off big time.

Obviously taking steps that would inconvenience more passengers would be out of the question in my book.

Am I having unrealistic expectations?

I think that's absolutely right. Be cheesed off at TG for not telling you. And the 800m walk is a pain at BKK, not much fun. Delaying the flight is a no. (Maybe the baggage handlers felt the same about getting his bag on the plane!) However, VH-RMD does fly a lot with TG looking at his other postings, including IIRC a couple of times when no buggy has been available in the past - so he does seem to be having a bit of a run of bad luck.
