FAQ: Royal First Class Lounge and Royal Orchid Spa information and access.
Thought with the number of FCL and Spa questions littering this board it might be worth making a sticky with all the available information and also provide a place for members to ask their questions. Please let me know if you think it is a good idea and please let me know if any of the information I have included is wrong or if you feel anything else needs to be added.

Lounge access rules:

Departures in TG or *A F from BKK = FCL access

TG F Arrival connecting to international TG C/Y = FCL access

TG F arrival connecting to domestic TG C = officially no FCL access, however some people have been granted access in this situation.

*A F arrival connecting to TG C or *A C = no FCL access

1 guest is allowed when departing in TG F or *A F

Q: If arriving in TG F and departing in TG C the following day, will I get access to the F lounge?

A: Offically the answer is no as you need a same day ticket, however some people have been granted access in this situation. So very much a YMMV situation.

Q: If arriving in TG F and staying in BKK, is it possible to use the TG F lounge as an arrivals lounge?

A: Unfortunately this is not allowed, although exceptions have been made before. So officially it's not allowed, but there is no harm in asking.

Treatment Menu:

Touch Of Silk Massage (Full body oil massage - 60 minutes for First Class only) – Ler's start your journey with a relaxing Touch of Silk full body oil massage. Delivered with the unique 'Thai touch', this massage will help to prepare your body for your onward flight by increasing blood circulation as well as relieving muscular tension and helping to provide the necessary hydration for your skin. On leaving the massage you will be left with an overall sense of well-being and total relaxation.

Neck & Shoulder Massage (30 minutes) – This is a great massage for passengers who are stressed, work at the computer too much or don't relax well. Neck and shoulder problems from routine activities are among the most common area for massage therapists to address. Using specific techniques the therapist will work to loosen tight muscles around the neck and shoulders whilst simultaneously assessing how much tension is held in the body and how best to release it. You will board your flight feeling more relaxed and a little lighter on the shoulders.

Relaxing Hand Massage (30 minutes) – Are your hands tired from all that clicking, driving, messaging and typing? If so, how about offering them a break and giving them a massage they truly deserve? By massaging the major channels/meridians of the arms and reflex points in the hands, this deep hand massage is designed to thoroughly release tension that accumulates in the hands and arms from our daily tasks. finishing with warm towels for both arms encourage muscle relaxation; this treatment can help to deliver a total sense of relaxation.

Relaxing Foot Massage (30 minutes) – Let's help prepare your feet for your onward journey, by taking the weight of them and giving them a relaxing massage that they truly deserve. Foot massage is a well-known relaxation therapy to help take care of tired feet. With the gentle touch of the therapists' hands, a sense of overall relaxation is induced. Deeper pressure by the fingers will help to stimulate your vital organs.

Spa access rules:

TG F departure = F spa access

*A F departures = No spa access

TG C departures = C spa access

*A C departures = No spa access

TG F arrival connecting to TG C = C spa access, however some people have been offered F spa access in this scenario

No guest are allowed regardless of class of travel

Q: Is it possible to book the spa treatment in advance?

A: No. You can book at First class check-in, at the FCL or the Spa itself - they will indicate the approx waiting time if more than a few minutes.

I have had some PMs from newer members who are confused by some of the abbreviations on this post. If you need help understanding them, FT has a great tool for looking up their meanings in the FT glossary.

It's the departure flight which counts, as follows:
  • Departing international in F - 60 minute full body massage (which is really, really fabulous)
  • Departing international in J - 30 minute head & shoulders or foot massage
  • Departing domestic in any class - No massage

It is not unheard of for a pax arriving from an international flight in F and departing on on international flight in J to receive the full body massage. Other than the departing flight, I think some future F flight on the itinerary wouldn't count for much.

For the 9pm/9am question, I can't see any reason why you could not receive your massage the night before (but please remember the Royal First lounge and Royal Orchid Spa close overnight).

As pointed out, YMMV. Happy travels.

take the connecting F flight - much more comfortable. The F lounge is ok - but it's not that great. It's in the same category as the CX F lounge HKG, QF F lounges in SYD and MEL and the Lh FCT - but it probably ranks the last in category - except for the golf cart to and from the lounge which comes after LH's limo from your plane!

+1 for taking the connecting flight in F! The F lounge isn't really that special so if I were you, I would head straight to the F spa, get a massage and catch your connecting flight. 1hr30 is maybe just enough time to get this done but even if you get worried about time, there is nothing to stop you asking for a 40min massage instead ^
CX F lounge better than TG F One could maybe argue that LH F and QF F lounges are (slightly) better than TG however, TG trumps CX F eby a long way IMO! However this might change once the wing reopens after it's refurbish

My SO and I, had a great experience last week at the SPA. Traveling in J we received 30 Minute Neck and Shoulder Massages which were terrific. I also love the Ginger Tea they serve afterwards (has a nice kick to it). When we arrived there was no wait at all (around 4 pm on Saturday).

Massage

I get into BKK around 3pm and leave around 11:45pm in First. Not to sound totally spoiled, but can I book the full body and the other massages (a total of 2.5 hours) or just one of them?

Hey there TG experts. 2 Quick questions. Flying first all the way: (747) MUC-BKK-USM then HKT-BKK-CDG (777ER).

Inbound, we land at 2:25p and the flight to USM takes off at 3:20. No time for the lounge there. Plus it is a super quick stopover---anyone know, arriving in 1st, if we can request any type of expedited service through immigration and to the domestic connection (which is in Biz, 2 cabin aircraft)?

Outbound. BKK-CDG in 1st, flight leaves at 12:10a. Figure that we would board sometime around 11:30. There are a dozen flights to BKK from HKT and we can arrive almost anytime in the afternoon or evening. How many hours should we plan to layover in BKK to use the spa and lounge? Right now, we land in BKK at 10:05 and take off at 12:10. Should I book an earlier flight? Also, the domestic into BKK is in Biz (2 cabin) but over the water in 1st. Will Thai help us from the connection through immigration to the lounge? Does that service need to be requested?

Many many thanks for sharing your knowledge.

You'll be met at the gate of your aircraft and escorted to the domestic connection. Don't worry!

I think you need more time in BKK to fully enjoy the experience. Allow 1.5 hours for relaxing in the lounge (food and drinks are quite good, so you can always have dinner before boarding and then go straight to sleep once the 773ER levels out). Allow another 1.5 to 2.0 hours for the massage (I recommend the 60 minute massage then a 45min soak in the jacuzzi). So arriving BKK around 8pm would be my plan.

You should not need to request assistance. You'll be met at your domestic flight and escorted to the first lounge. If you're not, it's no big deal... relatively short walk.

Thanks. I am coming from the world of UA where nothing happens unless you call 10 times and over-request.

Looks like the only 2 options for getting into BKK at arriving at 8:40p or at 6:50p (our next flt departs at 12:10a)

Which arrival do you all think we'd be better off with? A 5:20 hour layover or a 3:30 layover?

take the 5.20 layover.

Land, disembark, security, arrive lounge and get shown around and get drink - 45 mins. Head over to spa +1.5 hours (total 2.15 hours) - head back to lounge for a bite to eat another drink and to do email/check up on news - +1hr - total 3hrs 15 mins. They take you to your plane fairly late - I've been driven down as late as 15 mins prior to scheduled departure time (it won't 30 or 40 minutes before).

If you took the 3:30 layover you're cutting it tight.

I agree. LHR/MEL/Europe FF's plan sounds just about perfect IMO. I've taken that midnight CDG flight in F, and wish that I had eaten more than I did in the lounge. IME the food was better, and body-clock management would have worked better for me if I had just gone to sleep on the flight without wasting the time on a meal.

You get one massage.

dsq is correct - only one massage (although I'm sure others may have enjoyed numerous consecutive massages) and the type of massage is partially decided by class of travel. If you're departing in TG first, you can select (a) the 30 minute head & shoulders; or (b) the 30 minute foot massage; or (c) the 60 minute full body massage (with optional soak in the jacuzzi). If you're departing in TG business, your choices are limited to (a) and (b). You seem to be in F, so you're good!

Re dining, having a nice meal in the Royal First lounge and sleeping as soon as your plane levels out (or after the caviar service) is a very good option. You can supplement your nice meal with 3 x margaritas (or 4 if that's your thing ). Remember you can have the meal in the little (semi private) sitting rooms, the general lounge area, or the dining area (I recommend either the former or the latter).

The CDG flight leaves after midnight and gets in around 7am, so using the comfy suites for a good 9 hours of sleep is worthwhile.

Any recent experiences of passengers arriving international F and departing international C on which massage type they get? I'm flying in on FRA-BKK and leaving BKK-SIN and was really looking forward to the full massage, but no 3-class planes on BKK-SIN.

Indeed I do. I like the generous time allotted for drinks as well.

Asked and answered many times. Massage eligibility is decided by class of departure:

TG International F - 60 minute full body massage (with optional jacuzzi soak) OR 30 min head & shoulder massage OR 30 min foot massage

TG International Bus - 30 min head & shoulder massage OR 30 min foot massage

That's the official policy and YMMV. Unofficially, some pax (esp TG*Ps) have received the full one hour massage when departing in TG international business (subsequent to arrival in TG F).
