THAI W10 Operation Changes: Update 5

20100903 BY JIMYVR LEAVE A COMMENT
As per 03SEP10 GDS timetable display, latest changes to THAI’s Winter 2010 Operation changes, mainly on Beijing, Brisbane, Melbourne and Shanghai Pu Dong, as follows.
Changes in effect from 31OCT10 unless otherwise noted:

Bangkok – Beijing 747-400 replace A330 from 01OCT10 (was eff 31OCT10)
Bangkok – Brisbane 777-300 replace -200ER
Bangkok – Melbourne TG465/466 777-200ER replace -300
Bangkok – Shanghai Pu Dong TG664/665 Daily 777-200ER replace Airbus A340-600/747-400
Phuket – Hong Kong 5 weekly Airbus A330, replacing previously planned 4 weekly A330 and 1 weekly 777
Interesting to see the Boeing 777-200ER making a comeback to Melbourne flights, I prefer the 2x2x2 biz seating so that's a good thing, although it means less empty rows of seats in Y which I enjoyed lately.

Oh Pooh. I guess they want to reposition PEK's A330 to add to the HKG-Phuket frequency. And stick us again with the 747-400--no doubt the crappiest one still in the fleet with the old seating.

I can't imagine it's a capacity issue on the PEK-BKK route. Not during the winter except for the month around Chinese New Year. Well, maybe it will bring prices down a bit. Then again, maybe not, this is TG after all.

I am booked to fly BKK -PVG in F class. Does that mean I am downgraded? If so, does that also mean that I am unable to use the First lounge in BKK?

Called Thai to ask about your flight yet?

No, I haven't called Thai about the flight. I am scheduled to fly on Jan 28/11. According to the info above, my flight would be affected. I am booked on an Aeroplan award ticket, would Thai still be the people to call? Also, is there much chance there could be another switch between now and then? It seems odd that there would be no F class offered to Shanghai right before New Year!?

I am looking at booking PEK-BKK RT in First for Jan 14th-23rd. TG show's 747-400 on the booking page. Would this route be the newer F or old F seats? Also would they serve Dom Perignon in F regardless?

If anyone has any information that would be great.

Thanks!

That would be a "newer" style, sad to say, I haven't seen Dom on the menu this past month.
