Lounge access

http://www.thaiairways.com.au/vwm/up...t_09_Flyer.pdf

I am quite interested in the lounge situation at 3.30am in BKK.

According to the above, "Passengers arriving Bangkok on TG452 with connecting THAI flights will have access to Royal Silk Class lounges during transit."

Does anyone know what it means?

I guess it means enough people complained about the lack of lounge access when transiting from TG 452 so that they've made a special case and now have one or more lounges open for those passengers. I'm arriving tonight at about 01:30 and have a connecting flight in the morning so I'll try to check out the situation and report back later.

Ok, here's the deal. I just arrived (early at 0100) and headed straight for the C lounge which is still open (till 0130). The lounge dragon said that one (or both?) of the lounges on the E concourse stays open till 0200, then reopens at about 0330, to correspond to the arrival of TG 452. I tried to question her about if the F lounge on the E concourse will also be open (for F passengers from TG 452), or the main F lounge on the D concourse, but I didn't get a straight answer. I'll make my way over there later and try to question more about that. It seems though from what she said that it's likely that all lounges are still operating on their normal hours (close when last flight departs and reopen at about 0515), with the exception of at least one lounge on the E concourse.

I arrived at the E concourse a bit before 0400 and the lounge was open and about a dozen passengers from TG 452 were just arriving. One of them was looking around and mentioning, "E Concourse", so I assume the plane landed elsewhere, maybe on the C concourse or D concourse and they had to hike over to here. Only the lounge on the left (as you make your way down the concourse) is open. This means that the lounge with the F section and also the slumber rooms is not open. A bit surprised at that, but at least there is a lounge to use now for passengers who arrive in the early morning.

This is indeed great news. some one at TG just started thinking. Well at least some lounge is open to relax for a few hrs and avoid the bum torture at the general transit area

As it's in the E concourse I'll assume it's possible that the lounge is open to *A transit passengers. However the statements so far don't indicate if the lounge is open to TG passengers or *A passengers.

So, rather than assume, I'll pose this question.

Regardless, it's time for an airport that handles this much traffic to offer lounge access in the wee hours. Good news indeed.

A A_Lee is a champ for legging out all this info... repeatedly!

:-)

Agree - definitely good news... and just in time for me! It's surprising TG ever thought it was acceptable to have a 3am long haul arrival and not provide lounge access given most connections don't kick in for another 4 or 5 hours.

Now, if only they would shift one of the A346's to the MEL run! ;-)

Hurrah! Well done TG - leaving your premium pax outside the lounge with a 'closed' sign showing in the early hours of the morning after a long flight was not acceptable!

Cheers, AG.

No, please don't do that! BKKROP and I are probably neck-and-neck in the race to see who's transited at BKK the most. If they put an A346 on the route, BKKROP will start to fly TG exclusively and he'll leave me in his dust. Plus I'm an ex Sydney boy (at least part-time), and if they put an A346 on MEL, they might take away one of them from my beloved SYD route. And as has been discussed here before, we all know that Sydney people are the more civilized of the two, thus deserving two A346's

Last night on the 9.45pm SYD/BKK flight, there was 1 person in Royal First, 3 or 4 in Royal Silk and about 80 in economy. With loads like that, I would have thought the A346 would get far better use ex MEL!

Even the most civilised are aware of that...

Cheers,

Totally agree hgp, those Sydneysiders don't appreciate TG going out of their way and putting an A346 on the route, they even made it so advantageous too, arriving in BKK at 3am so that they could have fast track baggage and immigration, but also fast track taxis to the the city. Have you noticed the specials for them too, and they still can't fill them

Companion fare in business for 2750
Companion fare in FIRST for 3450

AND each day on the TG best fares site they are discounting the Y to 339, business to 1275 and first OW is also being given away.

This isn't fair

Now if only there was a TG lurker, he could swing the 346 to MEL or even shuttle it on to us, we would fill it. When was the last time they discounted MEL?????

I am shocked to read the news that A_Lee is/was a SYD person. Life will never be the same. MEL weather is crazy, this week back home to 35, leave Friday for BKK and it's winter there

Am hopping on the sleek, sophisticated, Sydney bound A346 on Friday morning to SYD (sorry BKKROP and hgp - I'll let you know how it goes) and cannot wait, what a fine iron bird!
